🚨 BREAKING: MICHAEL SALISBURY ISSUES PUBLIC APOLOGY TO ARSENAL FANS 😳💔
🗣️ Michael Salisbury:
“Yesterday, I made a serious mistake. I wrongly sent off Max Dowman, a 17-year-old, during the match between Arsenal and Fleetwood Town.
After reviewing the incident, I recognise that my decision was incorrect. I failed to see the full picture in the heat of the moment, and I take full responsibility for my actions.
Max is only 17 years old, with a bright future ahead of him. I understand the disappointment this decision has caused him, his teammates, Arsenal Football Club, and millions of fans.
It was never my intention to unfairly punish a young player, but I understand that intentions do not erase the consequences of my decisions.
I sincerely apologise to Max Dowman, Arsenal, and everyone affected by my mistake.
As a referee, I am expected to make the right decisions, and today, I fell short of that responsibility. I will learn from this experience and work to ensure such an error does not happen again.
I am truly sorry.”
— Michael Salisbury, Referee
Sunday's game has stayed with me. The abuse from the sidelines and the one significant mistake I made.
I'm finding that harder to deal with than the abuse.
What are your coping strategies for dealing with abuse and moving on from a decision you know you got wrong?

Some new goals and nets by the looks of it at Locks Ride, Bracknell. Well done Bracknell Town Council. #bracknell

A great video if you’re considering joining a RA. Bracknell RA always looking for new members.
Might have to sign up for this league. See if I can keep up with Usain. bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

Howard Webb says that VAR should only interfere the season when there is a 'clearly wrong situation' and leave the subjective decisions to the on field referee.
Anthony Taylor makes a great point. We would be lying if abuse doesn’t affect us. Its does. Which is why reflection is so important. What could we have done better? This does not justify, however, the abuse we have to put up with every weekend. bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

New season, new learnings. Being part of a Referees’ Association is more than just insurance. It’s a place to learn, debate, ask questions, hear from guest speakers, and share experiences. Every meeting offers a chance to pick up something new and improve your game. #Refereeing
I maybe on holiday but there is always time to make sure your LOTG knowledge is up to date.
Are you up to date with this season’s law changes?
A great workout this morning as we prepare for the new season. Hill runs next week. Everyone welcome to join us.

Trainers or no trainers?
They are black after all. Comfortable. Look like boots or Astros.
Provide unrivalled comfort on dry, hard pitches. Gentle on hips, knees and ankles. Nothing in the LOTG that says otherwise.
My footwear for the new season until it starts to rain 🌧️.
Wishing Dave Fisher all the best at this year’s Berkshire Football Awards.
Dave is up for the ‘referee of the season’ award. Good luck to Ethan Stacey too.
