"Tear down this wall"
What is the oldest political news story you can remember? For me it's Joe Biden being selected as Obama's VP.

You and a friend decide to split a pizza. There are eight slices. You each get four. That's not MLB's "50/50" revenue split. MLB's proposing they just get to call some of the slices "non-pizza" and only *then* split the pizza. So they get 5 or 6 slices and you get 2 or 3.

One more stat: Foxx hit 58 home runs in 1932 and two more that did not count because the games were eventually rained out. He would have been tied with Ruth and his legacy and baseball history would have been entirely different.
Not enough people talk about Jimmie Foxx • .325/.428/.609 (1.038 OPS), 163 OPS+ • 92.7 WAR, 2646 H, 534 HR, 1922 RBI • Had 30 HR 12x, 40 HR 5x, 50 HR 2x • 2x Batting Champion, Triple Crown • 3x MVP, 2x WS Champion w/ PHA • Had more BB (1452) than K (1311) • Came up (at age 17) as a catcher • Thrice drove in at least 163 runs • 5x leader in SLG, OPS and OPS+ • Reached 120 RBI 8x, 100 RBI 13x • Top Similarity Score Ted Williams • Homered in every WS he played in • Had multiple seasons with 400 TB • 1.52 ERA across 23.2 IP as a pitcher • Retired with 2nd-most HR in history • Nicknamed "Double X" or "The Beast" • .344/.425/.609 over 73 postseason PA • (Almost identical to his reg season slash) • Hailed from Maryland's rural Eastern Shore • His 12 years with 30+ HR were consecutive • His 13 years with 100+ RBI were consecutive • TOOK HIM 8 BALLOTS TO GET INTO THE HOF • Only 8 players in MLB history have recorded at least 3 seasons with a .330+ BA and 130+ RBI; Jimmie Foxx did it 6 times, trailing only Ruth and Gehrig Subscriber nomination by @seaphil68

Love seeing my franchise-single-season-homer-record-holding first baseman win yet another Fielding Bible Award
Congratulations to Matt Olson on winning his 6th Fielding Bible Award 👏

This was way more satisfying than I expected. But I won and I pitched a (3-inning) perfect game!

Immediate thought: Francisco Cabrera Second thought, took a while: Bill Buckner Soon after that, Robin Ventura
Name a player who's remembered for one single play. One moment, and it's the first thing anybody thinks of when they hear his name. Any sport, any era.

For 17 seasons (1947 to 1963, or age 26 to 42), Warren Spahn was 342-211 in 648 game. That's 20 wins per season for 17 years starting at age 26. Anyway, here's a portion of Jim Kaplan's @SABRbioproject on Spahn.

I obviously prefer that the Braves be in the World Series. However, Rays vs. Brewers is a tremendous matchup. It should be a fantastic series.

I'm all for the salary floor, man. If a team is under but has to pay somebody to get up to the minimum, I'll play!

It isn't Braves/Mariners, but it's the next best thing: a World Series matchup guaranteed to result in a first-time World Series champion. THIS is excitement! #Postseason

The last World Series starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers was Pete Vuckovich, who won the Cy Young Award that year. Better known to many of us as Clu Haywood, the salivating star slugger Clu Haywood in the movie Major League.

Not sure why I typed Clu Haywood twice except I was distracted by finding the images.

I can think of a few obvious Hall of Fame snubs, but the more I look into it, @Kenny_Lofton7 is tops among them. Just an incredible player. One and done on the ballot? Doubleyou. Tee. Eff.
