Legacy DLR approaches either (A) rely on hardware, which is expensive and slow, or (B) use weather models that do not have the required resolution and are not safe for use in line ratings - and engineers know it.
Gridraven has fixed it. Our AI wind prediction is accurate exactly where power lines are. It's already being switched on across all of Finland in the world's largest application of DLR.
Up to a third more grid capacity is available right away, to support load growth and reduce prices. It's a no-brainer.
Thank you @politicalham for a very professional and smooth recording experience. Great questions and pacing!

historically risk averse utilities are starting to turn to tools like AI-based platforms that can give insight into climate-related risks to utility infrastructure. rhizome just raised $6.5 million to further build out its grid analysis platform heatmap.news/sparks/rhizome-…

For our first @UpstartsMediaCo newsletter, I dug into Granola, the AI meeting notes app that's become a favorite tool of VCs and founders, growing 10% weekly.
CEO Chris Pedregal spoke to me about his plans for a "tool for thought" and the crowded AI note-taking startup field.

Kinda funny how they landed on the line that cutting greenhouse gas emissions is good without mentioning climate change.

Eliminating NOAA climate and weather research labs could seriously erode US forecast accuracy, in addition to cutting off the US' ability to monitor/research climate change. Labs like AOML, for ex., have direct forecast applications. axios.com/pro/energy-policy/…

The Texas grid is facing something we’ve never seen before:
ERCOT projects a 50% increase in demand by 2029.
That’s a jump from 85 GW in 2023 to 129 GW in just four years.
What’s driving it? 1/🧵

TOMORROW: Texas Senate will hear SB 819, a bill that would severely limit energy development, restrict Texas' economic growth, raise consumer costs, and make a mockery of private property rights.

Excellent piece by @jeffsaintjohn - with a little *creative thinking* - we can bring on lots of #cleanenergy faster and cheaper to match new data center demand. #energy #grid
How to get around the grid bottlenecks to building lots of clean energy and lots of data centers? This RMI report lays out an option - "power couples" that use existing fossil gas 'peaker' plants' as a grid connection node for wind, solar, and batteries:
