ALT Did you know that Ireland and Northern Ireland have both implemented the Nordic Model (client criminalisation)? Sex workers are still criminalised under the Nordic Model - workers cannot work together from the same premises for safety, or they can be charged with ‘brothel-keeping’. If sex workers are found to be working together, they can be evicted or deported. “The only time I would call the cops would be if I was dying on the floor … I don’t trust them. I strictly work by myself because I have that fear. I want to get Irish citizenship. Any criminal record would be detrimental. If I’m working with someone else, it’s putting me at higher risk.” (‘A’, Ireland - from Amnesty Ireland report, ‘We Live Within a Violent System’) Take action to support sex workers, and call for #FullDecrimNow.
