After the first plane hit the North Tower, she and her colleagues started evacuating. Then the announcement came: the building was secure. Go back to work.
She took the elevator back up.
Minutes later Flight 175 tore through her floor.
This is her 911 call. You can hear the heat, the smoke, and her realizing she isn’t getting out.
Near the end she gives the dispatcher her mother’s information and a last message:
“Tell her that she was the best mother a person could have, and that I love her with all my heart and soul, and that I’ll see her in the next world.”
She was one of the people Battalion Chief Orio Palmer was trying to reach when the South Tower came down.
