Anybody ever heard of the “Upcountry” in SC?
I’m guessing it’s a mythical place off I-85 where everyone wears pastels and Palmetto trees grow in the mountains to confuse people from Ohio into just moving there instead.
I’m gonna need a report, @thadmoore.
I’d come back for a master’s degree for this. 🐾🤙
Volunteering to play with dogs for course credit? Yep. You can do that here. 🦮 #UofSC

Just need local news outlets to offer a deal this good now.
This Black Friday deal goes out to everyone who has ever asked me, “So can you get me around the paywall?”

I used to think it was odd the NC Vietnam War Memorial is at a highway rest stop.
But I find myself stopping at it every time. And I’m not the only one. People are still stopping by to let their friends know they aren’t forgotten and I met a guy who comes here to play music.
Celebrating seven years with my wonderful dog Charlotte today.
Her original name was Sassy. It was more appropriate than I realized.
Thankful for those who ask the question, “Are you OK?” this #WorldMentalHealthDay
Thankful for therapists, counselors and pastors who help heal.
But most thankful for buddies who ask the question. And then show up at 5 a.m. when the answer is no.
Always ask the question.

This is where I went to high school. I had to search for news coverage after a friend told me about it. That’s not a knock on National news outlets. School shootings are just so common that a single death doesn’t demand attention like it used to. The public is sadly used to it.
BREAKING: One student has died after being shot at Mount Tabor High School in North Carolina, authorities say.
The suspect has not been apprehended. abcn.ws/3gTPcBR
It’s hard to quickly write down exactly what someone says. Three quotes that are all *slightly* different, even though there’s no major differences. When I covered court cases where we couldn’t record, reporters often got together to get a consensus on quotes to avoid this.
Well deserved. Time to give those reporters a LONG overdue raise.

Bought a small electric lawnmower last year and I have never felt so smug as I do now as the Norfolk lawn police go around demanding fresh cuts during a fuel shortage.
Bottom right photo for the win.
