China has joined Germany and Russia in publicly challenging Washington's exclusion of South Africa from the G20, as foreign ministers from the world's leading economies gather in Atlanta. Beijing says South Africa remains an important member of the grouping and should continue participating in its activities. The intervention adds to growing diplomatic pressure on the Trump administration, which has refused to invite Pretoria to meetings under its G20 presidency, including December's leaders' summit in Miami. #sabcnews

Stupefying
Luthuli House isn't ready for what's coming next week. ANC elders are turning in their graves at comments and thinking of this nature.

South African series are always so enthralling. Need to find a way to make it 5 matches in the future. 3 has never been enough.

That's what it seems to me, so who is pushing this? It's a whole new fuel we have no experience of or control over, a whole new infrastructure required to use it and move it around.... must be the juicy contracts to come. I'm amazed big business supports this. It's corrupt to the core and doesn't come close to addressing the so called "gas cliff"...
We do not have enough gas for industry and Sasol. There is a gas cliff in SA at the moment. If we import gas to burn to generate power we would dollarize the power price which would be a serious exposure that could cause higher inflation.

People often ask me "Who are the 29% of Americans who still support Trump?" It is people like this lady. They are all really dumb and there are tens of millions of them in America.

I have been too nervous to watch. My standard for the top five batsmen is that they must each face a bare minimum of 50 deliveries. Delighted to see this milestone achieved.

Trump did not post this. No such post is on his accounts. The screenshot came from a Facebook page, Branson Area Breaking News, that calls itself "satire or parody." news.meaww.com/fact-check-did…

Hi @Bruceps -- in the piece I mentioned, I am saying that if South Africa were excluded from AGOA, the country would face an additional Most Favoured Nation tariff of around 3.4% on top of the existing tariffs the current U.S. Administration added to various countries. Currently, some South African products enter the U.S. market at 12.5% tariffs (Liberation Day tariff). Without AGOA, these tariffs would rise to 15.9%, slightly reducing the competitiveness of South African agricultural products in the U.S. market. Still, one could argue that while this would be a challenging path, IT WOULD NOT NECESSARILY BE AS CATASTROPHIC as we have faced in the past, when it faced much higher U.S. tariffs and still managed to compete. For example, in 2025, those of us in the South African farming sector faced tariffs of around 30%. Still, exports to the U.S. were strong. South Africa’s agricultural exports to the U.S. in 2025 totalled US$504 million, down 3% from the previous year. Read my whole @BDliveSA column here: businessday.co.za/opinion/20…

I agree with Peter. My column in @BDliveSA tomorrow expands on this issue, focusing more on the agricultural matter and what the new tariff levels would be in the absence of AGOA preferential access, and what they would mean for SA farm product exports to the U.S. The picture is not catastrophic at all.

"BALANCE AND REASON" Folks, I can’t wait for you to read this new work, “Balance and Reason”. It will be in all major bookstores nationwide starting around November 9, or earlier in some areas. It will also be on ebook platforms from then on. The cover and back give you a glimpse of what it’s about, and I’ll share more as we roll it out.
