"I fondly recall my first interaction with NLS back in 2019, while I was still working at CLPR. I was struck by how well-read the students were. I am thrilled to now be joining the vibrant intellectual community here.
Prior to joining NLS, I pursued an LLM from Cambridge on a full scholarship. I'm currently working on two research projects. The first arose out of my Cambridge dissertation, wherein I critiqued the Indian Supreme Court’s borrowing of Canadian indirect discrimination doctrine. The second interrogates variations in standards of review in fundamental rights adjudication to uncover issues of legal indeterminacy."

Visualized another way: Clarence Thomas took in ~$4 million in gifts over the last 20 years (and only disclosed $2.4M worth).
That's a total haul 5.6x larger than the other 16 justices combined.

At the very same time, the Israeli government is bombarding the over 1.3 million displaced Palestinians they forced into Rafah with no escape. The reality these Palestinians are facing is a stark contradiction to the Israeli military’s designation of Rafah as a “safe zone.”

The 1st case concerns National Register for Citizens (NRC) which was exercised under Section 6A of the Citizenship Act, 1955.
The Assam NRC is meant to identify illegal immigrants in the State who migrated from Bangladesh after March 24th, 1971.

Recently experienced a really excellent benefit of live-streaming cases: now you can teach a class, interspersing your discussion with screening actual arguments in an actual case.
It enriches the discussion immensely, and brings the court directly into the classroom.

It s shorn of convoluted verbose sentences which obfuscate more than they clarify, & which has been the hallmark of judgment writing in India for decades now, even by the most 'iconic' members on the bench. There is a tiny victory for the plain language movement here I think. 2/
