How the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Bangor Blue Ox helped one fan reclaim a lost memory nytimes.com/athletic/7333217… via @NYTimes This is one of the most enjoyable pieces I’ve written in my nearly 50 years in this business.
Sorry to learn of the passing of ESPN legend Dan Davis. In 2020 The Athletic assembled a cast of broadcasting luminaries for a list of Boston’s Top 20 Play-by-Play Calls in History. His call of the Flutie-to-Phelan pass was #6.

Delightful column from @BuckinBoston on Efton Chism, his unusual name, and the bonds of a family.

Tremendous column from Tyler. People in the game need to listen.
It’s the postseason. Why is it suddenly so dangerous to let a good starter keep rolling? A column from a Red Sox fiasco in the Bronx: nytimes.com/athletic/7648499…
Pretty cool seeing our own @LouMerloni emerging as a national baseball voice.
Just landed in Ft Myers. Time to take a step back and enjoy watching 17 yr old kids play this great game. Thanks to everyone for following along this yr on @NESN. We had some fun. It was an honor to be part of the @NBCSports Post Season coverage, just not the end we were hoping 4

I know we have bigger problems in the world, but that big red and yellow pizza sign at Camden Yards is taking up too much of my NESN screen.
This was an absolute laser beam by @LouMerloni at Thursday night’s Oldtime Baseball Game. Stunning to see how well he, Rich Hill, Manny Delcarmen and Jake Peavy meshed with the younger players. Donations still coming in but so far it’s over $70,000 for The Boston Home.

If you are free tonight, please attend this night. Please!
You will get a taste of real baseball, where everybody smiles, maybe has a beer, and enjoys how the sport brings people together. Again, go!!!
See you tonight at St. Peter’s Field in Cambridge for the 32nd annual Oldtime Baseball Game to benefit The Boston Home. Rich Hill, Lou Merloni, Jake Peavy and Manny Delcarmen will be in the house. oldtimebaseball.com/

Fired up to be playing in the Oldtime Baseball Game again this year. Plan is to swing from my heels and pray I don’t hurt myself… 😬
Game is free to attend, but if you’d like to support The Boston Home you can do that here: thebostonhome.org/how-to-hel…

My favorite Eddie Andelman memory dates back to when I was about 15 and Eddie, Mark and Jim made an appearance at the newly-opened Radio Shack in Central Square in Cambridge. For my buddies and me it was like the Beatles had come to our neighborhood. RIP Eddie.

In 1987, the manager of the Seattle Mariners’ Bellingham club in the Northwest League was Rick Sweet. One of his players was Ken Griffey Jr., now in the @baseballhall. And Sweet? Still managing just fine, per @TylerKepner in this GREAT read @TheAthletic nytimes.com/athletic/7344721…
