How I Became A person With A disability♿️ 📌I was born like any other normal child but at the age of 2 years when i was taken for immunization the doctor used an expired vaccine and he injected it into me. 📌I started feeling pain and i couldn’t walk my left leg became stagnant with growth as my right leg was growing normally, we went to Mulago Hospital for 6months plus as the doctors were trying to balance the two legs 🦵 📌But it was all in vein, we went back home but i had started crawling that’s when my daddy introduced me to using a stick to walk because i had to go school. 📌I went to Nursery,Primary,Secondary,Institute and University on my stick my daddy introduced me too till now. 📌After university Covid-19 came and since the mode of the day was about hygiene that is when i learnt how to make Liquid Soap along the way i got some challenges and thought about looking for a job in IT because that is the cause i did at campus(digital marketing) Mr @deejahn was/is mentoring in digital. 📌I applied somewhere and everything went on well but when the Human Resource got to know she was going to employ a person with a disability everything ended there, I was disappointed and asked myself why did i go to school even, 📌By then madam @fsnakazibwe was my customer i shared with her and she advised me to better stick to my business and glow it because the employment world think persons with disabilities can’t execute to the level of their companies. 📌From my conversation with her i started thinking about my fellow youth with disabilities who need helpers full time if they can’t employ me who can juggle around with out a help,for-example (those with visual impairment, hearing and some who use wheelchairs) 📌That is when i started thinking about young boys and girls with disabilities who are at the university who think that after campus we will get jobs if the employment space still has this negative attitude towards persons with disabilities. 📌I started sharing my empowerment skills with my fellow persons with disabilities and the community that believes in us and am proud that now am the Executive Director of a youth and disability led organization known as @TwezuuleF #DisabilityPrideMonth #Twezuule

After the storm, what next? As we sat down with students with disabilities at Kyambogo University to talk about climate change and disability. We spoke about the floods, the drought, the lost homes and lost income. We also spoke about what these things do to the mind: stress, anxiety and depression. For young people with disabilities, the weight is even heavier, because access, support and opportunities were already hard to find. But we did not stop at talking. In the aftermath, I trained young people with disabilities to make liquid soap. Simple. Practical. Real. Because a skill gives a young person something climate change cannot easily take away. It brings income. It brings dignity. It brings hope, and a reason to wake up and say, "I can still build something." Climate change is not only about weather. It is about people, and how we help them stand up again. So let us ask ourselves:
✅ Are our climate plans including persons with disabilities?
✅ Are we giving young people skills, not just sympathy?
✅ Are we caring for mental health after disaster strikes? #InclusiveClimateSharing #TwezuuleFoundation #ZenGuardiansCafe

On 19 October, @UgandaRedCross, in partnership with @UEDCLTD and the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service (@ubtsug1), launched a blood mobilisation campaign targeting 3,000 units across UEDCL’s 15 operational territories and Uganda Red Cross branches. @UEDCLTD Acting Managing Director Eng. Joselynne R. Rwabwogo, @UgandaRedCross Secretary General @robert_kwesiga and William Mugisha, Principal Blood Donor Recruiter at UBTS, underscored the importance of collective action in strengthening Uganda’s blood supply. Through this partnership, the organisations are mobilising communities to donate blood and help ensure that patients have access to this life-saving resource when they need it most. 🩸Give blood. 🩸Save lives. 🩸Be the reason someone gets another chance. #DonateBloodSaveLives

How can you create content that drives policy change? A successful campaign goes beyond creating content and posting it online. It requires clear messaging, the right tactics, a well-planned implementation strategy, and a strong monitoring and evaluation framework to measure progress and impact. Digital campaigns have the power to shape public conversations, raise awareness, influence decision-makers, amplify community voices and turn important issues into action. When content is well researched, targeted and communicated effectively, it can help inform debates, strengthen accountability and contribute to meaningful policy change. The goal is not just to create content that people see, but to create content that makes people think, starts conversations and inspires action. #RisingWithIGAD #OneRegionOneFuture
Through group discussions, participants explored the basics of good storytelling and how to create content that informs the public, raises important concerns, shapes policy debates and holds leaders accountable. The discussions also looked at the importance of ethics and independence in media and content creation. Sharing information comes with responsibility, and it is important to be truthful, fair and careful about the information shared with the public. The session was a reminder that storytelling is more than just sharing information. It is about helping people understand issues, bringing attention to community concerns and contributing to conversations that can lead to change. #RisingWithIGAD #OneRegionOneFuture

Our Iganga Field Office, with support from @IDLO, funded by @SwedeninUG, we engaged community members in Kiboyo Village, Iganga District, on land rights, succession, children’s rights and court processes. ⚖️ The engagement provided a platform for community members and local leaders to discuss legal challenges affecting their community and explore lawful avenues for redress. A Mobile Legal Aid Clinic was also scheduled to provide legal advice and support to residents with pressing cases. Strengthening legal awareness and bringing legal aid closer to communities are essential steps towards ensuring that everyone can understand, claim and exercise their rights. 🤝 #IDLOProject

The second day of the #IGAD Media and Influencer Training in Nairobi, Kenya, focused on the role of media and digital creators in promoting food systems resilience. Participants discussed how to share accurate information, verify facts, use reliable sources and create content that informs the public and encourages accountability. They also worked in groups to develop content around soil health and climate advisory services. By equipping journalists and influencers with the right skills and knowledge, IGAD is strengthening communication efforts to support more resilient food systems across the region. #RisingWithIGAD #OneRegionOneFuture
