Psilocybin research in Parkinson’s is beginning to look beyond mood symptoms.
Researchers measured five blood markers related to inflammation.
The overall inflammation measure was lower after treatment and remained lower 30 days after the final dose.
A mitochondrial stress marker, GDF-15, fell shortly after each dose but was no longer significantly lower at 30 days.
Participants knew they were receiving psilocybin, and the study had no control group.
UPS is adding documentation and shipping requirements for hemp products ahead of new federal restrictions.
Starting Dec. 11th, shipments need lab documentation for the 0.3% total-THC limit and adult signature service.
The policy also bars shipments from marijuana retailers and prohibits synthetic cannabinoids and hemp vapes.
In brain scans from 17 volunteers, LSD sped alpha rhythms by about 2 Hz and beta rhythms by about 5 Hz, while also weakening them and increasing measures of neural complexity.
Machine-learning models distinguished LSD from placebo scans with over 82% accuracy using frequency shifts.
Did medieval Buddhist rituals use psychedelic mushrooms?
Lama Mike Crowley argues that the sacramental elixir amrita may have contained them, based on his interpretation of Buddhist texts and art.
The ingredients, however, remain debated.
A Colorado state audit found gaps in cannabis product safety oversight, including inconsistent monitoring of testing labs and no state-run reference lab.
Auditors said these weaknesses could delay detection of contaminated products and called for stronger lab oversight and faster health advisories.
San Francisco health officials reported the city’s first fatal overdose involving MGM-15, a lab-made opioid derived from a kratom-related compound.
MGM-15 is not approved for medical use and is estimated to be up to 50 times more potent than morphine.
The drug has been found in products marketed as “cat’s claw” or uncaria tomentosa and sold in settings such as smoke shops and gas stations, raising concerns about misleading product labels.
Testing your drugs is important, but how you test matters just as much. 🧪
No single test can tell you everything about a substance. Different testing methods reveal different information, which is why we developed the Transparency Triple Check — a three-step protocol designed to help you make more informed decisions about what you’re consuming.
1️⃣ SCREEN with test strips to check for specific adulterants.
2️⃣ IDENTIFY with multiple reagents to help determine what substances may be present.
3️⃣ VERIFY your results using the free Transparency Harm Reduction App to compare reactions and identify potential red flags.
Each step adds another layer of information, helping you build a clearer picture of what’s actually in your drugs.

A single supported psilocybin session produced rapid improvements in depression symptoms, but its measurable advantage over placebo did not remain clear one year later.
The clinical trial included 35 adults with major depressive disorder. Participants received either 25 milligrams of psilocybin or 100 milligrams of niacin, which served as the active placebo.

Cychlorphine is an unapproved synthetic opioid in the orphine class.
Laboratory tests suggest it is about 10 times more potent than fentanyl, but it has not been studied in humans or animals.
U.S. reports of the drug rose from one in 2024 to 16 reports across 10 states in 2025.
The White House drug policy office reported 55 linked deaths in 2025 through April 2026.
One forensic lab linked more than 140 deaths in the U.S. and Canada over about seven months, but many cases involved other drugs too.
Naloxone can help reverse an overdose, but the drug’s potency may mean multiple doses are needed.
Reagent tests can provide useful preliminary information when screening substances sold as LSD, but a color reaction cannot establish purity, potency, or conclusively distinguish every closely related lysergamide.
More advanced laboratory techniques, such as mass spectrometry, can provide greater chemical specificity.
An analysis of 2.5 million EMS overdose records found that nonfatal overdoses were 20.9% below earlier projections after the U.S. death decline began in 2023; opioid overdoses were 32.7% below.
Naloxone administrations fell too, and use per overdose stayed nearly level.
The study challenges the idea that more naloxone alone explains fewer deaths.
Street names can hide dangerous changes in the drug supply.
In an Estonian study, lab tests found cychlorphine in nearly one-fifth of 112 urine samples from people who inject drugs.
Half of those who reported using fentanyl, nitazenes, or a local opioid tested positive for cychlorphine.
The study shows why toxicology and self-reported use both matter: one can reveal what people believe they took, the other what entered their bodies.
Cocaine has overtaken fentanyl as the drug most often involved in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, overdose deaths for a second year.
County projections for 2026 put cocaine involvement at 200 of 340 deaths and fentanyl at 130, but categories overlap because many deaths involve multiple drugs.
Overdose prevention needs to reflect a changing local drug supply, including risks to people who may not expect opioids in cocaine.
A prodrug is a substance that undergoes chemical transformation inside the body to produce another active compound.
In the case of 1P-LSD, enzymes remove its additional propionyl group, converting it into LSD.
This helps explain why a substance with different molecular properties can produce similar effects.
MGM-15 and MGM-16 remain temporarily in Schedule I.
The DEA’s October notice proposes maintaining those controls while separating the compounds from a different action on mitragynine pseudoindoxyl.

Georgia Poison Center’s director reported 315 calls and four deaths involving kratom-like products this year.
He said approximately 80% of calls involved hospitalization.
Lab analysis and toxicology reports are needed to distinguish concentrated or synthetic compounds within the kratom-like products.
Beginning December 12, 2026, covered New York private employers must make opioid-overdose reversal medication available at work.
The requirement applies to employers subject to federal workplace first-aid supply requirements. Government employers are exempt.
Proposed regulations include accessible placement, sufficient doses, replacement of expired supplies, and at least one trained employee on-site during business hours.
EMA’s medicines committee recommended removing Nyxoid’s prescription requirement, potentially widening access to naloxone nasal spray.
For now, this is a committee recommendation, not confirmation of immediate prescription-free availability.
1P-LSD first appeared on the recreational drug market around 2015.
Unlike some earlier LSD derivatives, it had not been documented in scientific or patent literature before appearing as a recreational substance.
Researchers subsequently began investigating its chemistry, pharmacology, and metabolism.
