"Khedra", "awliE", and "meley"are some of the names Eritreans passionately refer to their original national flag. Ebro Ahmed, an African American from Minnesota, jumped onto a moving bus to save 19 school children and the driver who was incapacitated, he became a national hero earning global praise. However there was some confusion about his background that even mainstream media outlets kept referring to him as Somali when he kept saying he was Eritrean. A more light hearted debate was also going on between some Somali and Eritreans each claiming him as their own.
