Honestly, if this were fiction, we’d say too good to be true. ❤️ But look at life, being this lovely. Just couldn’t help sharing this one on our timeline. 🎥 Credit: @peek_humour

She is the darkness beyond darkness. The force beyond time. The power that even time cannot contain. In the vastness of the cosmos, where creation and destruction are but two movements of the same eternal existence, resides Maa Kali, the embodiment of Adi Shakti. She is Mahakaali. The primordial energy. The infinite force that dissolves ignorance, destroys evil and liberates existence from the illusion of permanence. Her association with Mahakaal, Shiva, represents one of the most profound ideas in Hindu philosophy. Shiva is consciousness. Shakti is the dynamic energy that animates it. One without the other is incomplete. Together, they represent the eternal cosmic principle. She stands upon Mahadev as an expression of the inseparable relationship between consciousness and energy. Her dark form represents the infinite, the unmanifest, that which contains everything and transcends everything. Her fierce countenance reminds us that destruction is not always an end. Sometimes, it is the necessary beginning of transformation. In the cremation ground, where all worldly distinctions disappear, Maa Kali reminds us of the ultimate truth. Nothing is permanent, nothing is beyond time, and no power is greater than the eternal. She is the mother who protects, the force that destroys, and the energy that renews. On Kali Puja, we bow to the infinite power of Maa Kali, the Shakti that governs the cycles of existence, the darkness from which creation emerges, and the eternal force that transcends Mahakaal himself. जय माँ काली। Jai Maa Kali l 🙏🔱🙏

Some book titles are more than just titles. They are a reflection of how a person wishes to be remembered. My Country, My Life. When Shri L.K. Advani chose these four words for his autobiography, he perhaps offered us a glimpse into what he considered the defining theme of his life's journey. Published in 2008, this book is not merely the story of a politician. It is a personal account of a journey through some of the most defining moments in India's political history, told by someone who witnessed them from the very heart of public life. One may have differing opinions about his politics, his decisions and his legacy. That is the beauty of a democracy. But few can dispute the place he occupies in the story of modern India. There is something deeply moving about a life that spans generations of political change, public challenges, triumphs, setbacks and an unwavering presence in the national conversation. And perhaps the most beautiful thing about this title is its simplicity. Not My Politics, not My Power, not My Journey. Just My Country, My Life. On his 99th birthday, we revisit this book and celebrate a remarkable journey through India's public life. Wishing Shri Lal Krishna Advani ji good health, peace, happiness and many more years surrounded by the warmth and affection of his loved ones. A very happy 99th birthday!

Shrilal Shukla and Harishankar Parsai for unmatched Satire ❤️
Premchand for agony and distress, Dinkar for nationalism, Bharti for his romanticism, Dwivedi and Mahadevi for their chayawad (can’t find relatable English word), Agyeya for philosophical existentialism. Hindi has its own universe to live by.

Forget sandpaper. We're more interested in the spring-loaded bats. Ponting, Martyn & Gilchrist might have some explaining to do. Shane Warne could have added a chapter to his autobiography, but sadly, he missed that World Cup. 😂
Someone from Australian squad 2003 please confess that they won the CWC final using the sandpaper. Thoda trauma kam ho jaayega humaara.

Comparing a ₹250 movie ticket with a ₹250 book? Interesting. Especially when the movie ticket is only the beginning of the expenditure! There's travel, parking, popcorn, overpriced beverages and perhaps an interval snack. Before you know it, a ₹250 ticket has become a ₹1,000 outing! A book, meanwhile, can arrive at your doorstep, often without delivery charges. No traffic, no parking, no popcorn surcharge. Yet somehow, we're still debating whether books are too expensive. But let's look beyond the price tag. The recently released Ramayana has brought an entire conversation around Valmiki's epic back into the spotlight. Some viewers are debating the film's deviations from the original. For others, this might be their first introduction to the epic. Some may even end up picking up the original text. That's an opportunity for the publishing industry. Then there's @SoniaGandhi, whose first Instagram appearance introduced her forthcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, releasing on November 10. @authoramish, too, understood the value of anticipation, creating book trailers even before his books hit the shelves. These are examples of understanding that a book needs to be introduced, marketed and made visible. Films have evolved too. The industry has experimented, learnt from failures and course-corrected. Today, even a story with enormous recall value gets trailers, music launches, promotional tours and pre-release events. How many books receive that kind of attention? How many publishers organise meaningful pre-release events or take authors out to meet their readers? But there's another side to this story. Somewhere along the way, we've also started confusing an author's follower count with their readership. If someone has a million followers, there's apparently a market waiting. Get a ghostwriter, put together a book and let the numbers do the talking! Except, a million followers don't necessarily make a million readers. Books aren't ordinary commodities. But once we decide to sell them, we cannot pretend that marketing, visibility and distribution don't matter. Equally, marketing cannot compensate indefinitely for the absence of good content. Films have stars, music, familiar faces and franchises to bring audiences through the doors. A book has to earn its readership, often one reader at a time. Think about the books we still recommend, discuss and revisit. It wouldn't be surprising if a large number were written 20, 50 or even 200 years ago. Their publicity campaigns have long disappeared. Their content hasn't. So perhaps before we generalise about readers, question their priorities or accuse them of being unwilling to spend on books, we should pause. Comparing cinema and books purely on the basis of what people are willing to spend is, after all, comparing apples and oranges. More importantly, making readers feel guilty about their choices isn't exactly the best way to bring them into the fold. Perhaps authors need to introspect. Publishers need to introspect. Booksellers like us certainly need to introspect. And everyone else in the publishing ecosystem might benefit from doing the same. Instead of asking readers why they aren't reading enough, perhaps we should ask ourselves what more we could be doing to make them read. We don't need to win arguments against readers. We need to win more readers. And that's a rather different business altogether. 😄
The reason most authors have to work full-time jobs is that people will easily shell out 250 bucks for a movie ticket but will think 10 times before spending the same amount on a book.

#PreOrderWithPI 💮 Long India: The World’s Greatest Investment Opportunity by Harsh Madhusudan padhegaindia.in/product/long… What does India's economic future look like over the next three decades? Is the country on the cusp of becoming the world's biggest economic powerhouse, or are we underestimating the challenges that lie ahead? In Long India, published by @PenguinIndia, investor and economic thinker @harshmadhusudan makes a compelling, data-driven case for why India could be the world's greatest growth story and investment opportunity for the coming generation. Drawing on nearly two decades of studying India's economy and financial markets, Madhusudan examines the forces shaping the country's future, from economic convergence and institutional coherence to entrepreneurship, demographics, innovation and the immense possibilities of scale. Importantly, the book does not shy away from the uncomfortable questions. A weakening rupee, foreign investor outflows, the threat posed by artificial intelligence, the manufacturing challenge and the possibility of a middle-income trap all feature in the larger debate about India's prospects. Structured around five themes, Convergence, Coherence, Catallaxy, Cornucopia and Cycle, the book challenges conventional assumptions and invites readers to look beyond short-term economic anxieties. With a foreword by investor Ashish Dhawan and an endorsement from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Long India is a timely addition to the conversation on India's economic destiny. A significant read for investors, entrepreneurs, business leaders and anyone interested in understanding the India story beyond the headlines.
