Continuous protests and demonstrations in Central Delhi are disrupting business activities, customer movement and the livelihoods of traders and workers. CAIT demands permanent, designated protest sites on Delhi’s outskirts to protect the right to peaceful protest while ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of markets and businesses.
CAIT has launched an online petition to mobilise public support for this demand. We urge traders, business associations and citizens to support this initiative and raise their voices for a practical solution.
Sign the petition: c.org/wJLY8mF2dQ
A meeting of Delhi’s trade leaders will also be held on 26 October to discuss the issue and formulate a collective course of action.

CAIT welcomes the India–New Zealand FTA, effective 20 October 2026, as a major boost for Indian trade. With 100% of Indian goods exports to New Zealand receiving zero-duty access, the agreement opens new opportunities for MSMEs, manufacturers, farmers, artisans and exporters.
The agreement will strengthen export prospects across textiles, leather, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, agricultural products and other key sectors, enhancing the global competitiveness of Indian enterprises.
CAIT applauds Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi’s visionary leadership in advancing Local to Global, Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat. Indian traders and manufacturers must seize these opportunities to expand their global presence and take Made in India products to new markets.

#WATCH | Delhi | BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal says, "Protesting is a constitutional right; there can be no two opinions about that. If a protest stems from disagreement, it is certainly justified. However, the same Constitution also grants traders the right to conduct business and the right to earn a livelihood. Nowhere does the Constitution state that one right can encroach upon another. So far, this protest has cost traders in Delhi approximately ₹4,000 crore. We are currently in the festive season, a period that traders look forward to all year round... It is high time this issue is highlighted. I believe the government should promptly establish a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for protests... It is essential to designate specific sites on the city's outskirts for such demonstrations. Anyone wishing to protest should do so at these designated locations. This would ensure that daily public life remains undisturbed while allowing business activities to continue smoothly..."

यदि संविधान Freedom of Speech का अधिकार देता संविधान Right to Trade और Right to Earn Livelihood की भी गारंटी करता है।

#WATCH | Delhi: On the impact on business due to protests, President, Sarojini Nagar Mini Market Trade Association, Ashok Randhawa, says, "... Over the past two weeks, repeated protests and road closures have severely affected markets across Delhi. Customer footfall has dropped significantly... Traders depend on their daily earnings to support their families... Even Sarojini Nagar, a popular shopping destination for visitors from across India, has seen fewer customers because of traffic restrictions and disruptions..."
