Mozart's clarinet quintet - because it doesn't tell you where to go, it shows you the entire scene, by highlighting each different space

Wow, bringing out the heavy hitters! Although Rachmaninoff is achingly beautiful I’m a cheap sex poodle for Debussy.

Clair de Lune is always a comfort pick, but for etheral beauty, gotta give it toRachmaninoff's 2. The chord progression sounds similar to Céline Dion's All by Myself (perhaps the song was sampled from Rachman's 2), and an even similar progression is the descending notes.
This week's Warhorse Horse Race - the dreamer's duel! Who do you choose for ethereal beauty?

I once had an argument with a Hungarian drafter in St. Catherines On. about who was greater Shostakovich or Prokofiev. I wish I could tell him he was right. We did agree on one thing though, that Stravinsky was was greater than either of the other two. I vote for L’Oiseau du feu.

It's the final War Horse Horse Race of the first round - week 16! Two pieces written centuries apart but both heartbreakingly beautiful. Which do you choose?
Grigorio Allegri's Miserere

Or
Morten Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium?

Jocelyn’s piece is a contemplative, intricate respectful tribute to a person. Programmatic instrumental music is sometimes very good for learning history or discussing issues. I vote for My Name is Amanda Todd.

Maybe if Chopin wouldn’t’ve snoozed through all Józef Elsner’s orchestration classes he could’ve received my vote but no he doesn’t.

@cbcabouttime #WarHorseHorseRace On the sweet and pretty side of things, Wolfie wins… Sweet as a good apple pie. The other had some sharp points throughout. Mozart therefore floats to the top!!! 👍🤩
