The emotional impact of unemployment can be profound, experts say — but speaking up about it and building a support system can help. nytimes.com/2025/11/12/well/…
CBHA is proud to stand behind AB 669 to safeguard access, strengthen our behavioral health system, and affirm that recovery deserves urgency and respect.
This bill secures timely access to medically necessary addiction medications, helping Californians begin treatment without unnecessary barriers. This bill is especially critical for Medi-Cal populations, who face disproportionate challenges to care.

Today in the Assembly Health Committee, AB 669 (Haney) – The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Safe Discharge Act was presented, tackling one of the most urgent challenges in behavioral health: timely, uninterrupted access to SUD treatment. 📢
This bill eliminates concurrent medical necessity reviews during the first 28 days of inpatient and intensive outpatient treatment—an essential period for those in early recovery. In the age of fentanyl, premature removal from care is not just a setback—it can be deadly.
A huge thank you to Assemblymember Haney for championing this critical legislation, and to Chair @AsmMiaBonta and committee members for their thoughtful attention to this issue impacting countless Californians. 💙👏
