What is the value of the “sky is falling” narrative? I don’t know, but I assume there are profiteers working on that calculation as I sit and write. What we lose when we focus on test scores | Opinion inquirer.com/opinion/comment… via @phillyinquirer

7/31 A Series of Small Boxes (2007, Fish Drum, Inc.) by @TomDevaney215 From “Trying to live as if it were morning” I’m not here to settle that. I’m here to write a poem because I’m a morning person and it’s morning. This is a morning poem. #TheSealeyChallenge

“…journalism is the sad stepsister in the curriculum… because administrators are intimidated by the fact that student journalists do know what is going on inside and are reporting the truth for the public to see.” - @worddoct Y’all. Read this. eriereader.com/article/press…

Just taking a curmudgeonly minute to lament the students who slow down everything by clicking the wifi on my ethernet-connected media computers and then have the gall to ask “How can they get internet without wifi” when I complain. The kids are fine—this is an Aging tweet.

Do the right thing family. All of it hard, but this one is easy. Make the open layup. You are unblocked, make the tackle. They pulled the goalie, make the shot. The count is 3-0, the bases are loaded, and you are down 1. Don’t swing. No homework over spring (or any) break ❤️
My kid’s teacher did NOT assign any homework for Spring Break. THANK YOU kindly.

9 teachers is almost 20% of our staff. More than 1 in 6 of my incredible colleagues will not be allowed to return next year. For the record, this was a choice. When you choose to use an admissions algorithm, you co-sign the results of the algorithm. #phled
Franklin Learning Center's staff and students rallied outside of their school building this morning to stand protest against a district budget that will cause FLC to lose 9 teachers next year. FLC is not alone in losing teachers. (1/2) #phled #stopthecutsdp #flchs

This week my students embarked on a new project researching living poets in Philly. By far the best part of the week was our poet draft which saw my students ruining each others’ lives by stealing their draft picks. Poetry is not a luxury. We should all be so hype. #phled

It’s spooky szn and you still haven’t read Usher II? In *this* era of renewed censorship and morality policing? What are you waiting for?
