Struggling to fully grasp how much money this is, I have calculated this $$$ = ~59 million $4 tacos.
In an election cycle where the top issue is affordability / economy / cost of living, this could buy at least 10 tacos for each of the ~5.5 million kids in Texas public schools.
At $237.9M in ad spending and reservations, the #TXSen general election is the 9th most expensive Senate election on record.
It's already surpassed the 2024 TX Senate general election by nearly $35M.
Aired spending:
🔴 $113.8M 🔵 $62.0M
Future reservations:
🔴 $58.6M 🔵 $3.6M

A 16 year old boy with a green card has been in Dilley for over 120 days. Marco Rubio sees him & his parents as a foreign policy risk because of his grandmother involvement in the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

I'm thinking today about the people I've met and the stories they've shared since the July 4 floods.
What happened that day -- and the grief and loss and rebuilding and resilience -- will certainly stay with me.
Here are some of their stories:

New: Texas Democrats more than doubled their turnout from 2024 during the primary elections on March 3 in the Rio Grande Valley, as the % of registered D voters who cast a ballot far exceeded that of recent elex.

Since Timothy Mellon is in the news, a throwback to when @carla_astudi and I discovered he was responsible for nearly all of the donations to Texas' border wall project. And, yes, he was eligible for tax credits for that gift texastribune.org/2021/10/06/…

My last project @TexasTribune is out! 🥲 Migrant remains have kept rising in the desert west of El Paso — even as numbers have gone down across the rest of the border. With @ujohnnyg and @PatLohmann of @Source_NM texastribune.org/2025/06/16/…

Some personal news: I'm soon leaving @TexasTribune. The Trib has shaped me so much as a designer, developer, and visual journalist, and I’ve gotten to work on some of the projects I'm most proud of. So thankful to have learned from such talented colleagues and mentors. 💛

Friday evening @TexasTribune data visual story drop - analysis on how Cruz performed compared to Trump in Texas by me, @yuriko_a_s and @PoojaSalhotra texastribune.org/2024/11/08/…

ALT Four maps on the left showing the counties that make up each region in the state: border, big blue, fast-changing and solid red counties.. On the right of each region map are bar charts: one for Trump showing his percentage share of the vote over the last three elections and one for Cruz showing his percentage share of the vote over the last two.

#Trump won 14 out of the 18 counties within 20 miles of the #border, doubling his attention-grabbing 2020 performance in the #Latino-majority region.
This graphic from @dankeemahill via @propublica @texastribune shows how it shifted in 30 years.

Just an absolutely unreal graphic showing Trump's gains in Texas-Mexico border counties since 2016. Starr County, population 65,920 and 97% Latino, shifted 75 PERCENTAGE POINTS in Trump's direction. texastribune.org/2024/11/06/…

The @TexasTribune set out to visualize the number of voters in a state where one county has millions (Harris) and others have closer to 100 (Loving).
Here's the piegram map that @yuriko_a_s came up with:
