GHG flux rate estimates substantially impacted by chamber closure period length, both linear and Hutchinson-Mosier based!

Implications for all systems, but this analysis is based on set-up from @LICOR_ENV.
Do you measure GHGs with non-steady-state chambers? How long do you keep your chamber closed? How long you keep it closed can substantially impact your flux estimates! Here presenting my work at #EGU2024. Keep an eye out on my twitter for a coming publication on the subject!

The last of >4800 CO2 & CH4 forest soil flux measurements (across 5 sites, 3 years and 147 field days) of my PhD!
Time to dig into to the data: how do these fluxes respond to biochar applicaton, NH4NO3 fertilization, increased precipitiation and open top chambers?
Interested in forest soil and deadwood methane fluxes in forests but missed me at EGU? In August I will present on the same topic at the #IBFRA conference in Helsinki. Hope to see you there!

A year ago we cut five healthy living trees to measure CO2 and CH4 fluxes from fresh dead wood with the LI-7810 from @LICOR_ENV. So far, fresh dead wood has been emitting both CO2 and CH4, but site conditions seem to play a major role in determining how much!
