Since 2015, we have prided ourselves on giving opportunity to players from all types of programs. As rosters were announced this week, 81 CGS players are currently on NFL rosters, many from small programs that just needed a shot!

In the football industry, ego can close doors that hard work, trust, and relationships took years to open
Always stay humble, never stop learning, and treat everyone with respect. No matter what position you hold or how much experience you have, being a decent person goes a long way
Let your work and how you treat people speak for themselves

An effective pass rush is about more than just recording sacks:
🔹 Collapse the Pocket: Disrupt the quarterback’s ability to step up and deliver throws
🔹 Generate Pressure: Force rushed decisions, uncomfortable throws and mistakes
🔹 Disrupt Timing: Affect throwing lanes, passing windows and offensive rhythm
🔹 Create Opportunities: Generate incompletions, turnovers and negative plays
A pass rusher’s impact goes well beyond the stat sheet. Consistently affecting the quarterback can change the outcome of a game

High school and college athletes, especially in today’s NIL era, make sure you have the right people representing you and managing your public relations
Your reputation, personal brand and future opportunities matter. Surround yourself with individuals who prioritize professionalism, integrity and your long-term success, both on and off the field

When college coaches and recruiting departments evaluate high school football prospects, the process goes beyond athletic ability, statistics and highlight films
Character, maturity, accountability, coachability and overall program fit all matter
Parents also need to understand how their behavior can influence the recruiting process
Recruiting red flags parents should avoid:
🔹 Controlling Communication: Constantly contacting coaches instead of allowing athletes to build relationships
🔹 Overbearing Behavior: Dominating recruiting visits or speaking for your child
🔹 Criticizing Coaches: Publicly complaining about playing time, coaching decisions or recruiting opportunities
🔹 Unrealistic Expectations: Assuming your child deserves Division I offers based on statistics or accolades
🔹 Misrepresenting Interest: Exaggerating scholarship offers, measurables or recruiting attention
🔹 Pressuring Staff: Demanding offers, immediate responses or recruiting decisions
🔹 Negative Social Media Activity: Publicly criticizing programs, coaches or other athletes
🔹 Creating Conflict: Confronting high school coaches or making excuses for poor performance
🔹 Disrespecting Opportunities: Dismissing FCS, DII, DIII or NAIA programs without considering fit
🔹 Prioritizing Exposure: Focusing on rankings and publicity over development and academics
🔹 Controlling Decisions: Pressuring athletes toward certain programs or making recruitment about the parent
WHAT COLLEGE COACHES VALUE:
✅ Maturity and independence
✅ Accountability and coachability
✅ Professionalism and honesty
✅ Academic commitment
✅ Realistic expectations
✅ Genuine interest in their program
MY MESSAGE TO PARENTS:
‼️Be involved, ask questions and advocate for your child, but allow them to take ownership of their recruitment
These behaviors are potential concerns, not automatic disqualifiers
🚨College coaches are recruiting your child, not you. Help them develop the independence, communication skills and accountability needed at the next level
Your involvement should open doors, not create obstacles.
🏈 Support the athlete. Respect the process. Let your child take ownership of their future

For college football players with aspirations of playing professionally, receiving an invitation to the College Gridiron Showcase is an opportunity that deserves serious consideration
Since 2015, CGS has provided NFL Draft-eligible prospects from FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and U SPORTS programs with a platform to showcase their abilities in front of professional football personnel
What separates CGS is our NFL OTA-style evaluation format, allowing scouts to evaluate players through positional drills, one-on-one competition and team periods while assessing athletic ability, technique, football IQ, competitiveness and coach ability
The numbers from our 2026 event demonstrate the opportunities available:
✅ 215 participating athletes
✅ 200+ professional scouts in attendance
✅ 31 of 32 NFL organizations represented
✅ All 9 CFL organizations represented
✅ 227 CGS alumni on professional rosters in 2026
✅ 84 alumni on NFL rosters entering training camp
✅ 92 alumni on CFL rosters
✅ 13 CGS alumni selected in the 2026 CFL Draft
Since our inaugural event, more than 1,200 CGS participants have received professional football opportunities
Our alumni include Miami Dolphins All-Pro offensive lineman @Bigtime_AB, Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro punter @AJCole90, New England Patriots All-Pro special teamer @SchoolerBrenden, @YounghoeKoo, @TheSnappingLife, @MattBreida, @SJD_51 and numerous others who have established professional football careers
For players receiving invitations, understand the value of this opportunity. You have another chance to compete against quality prospects, receive additional evaluations, interact with professional scouts and demonstrate traits that may not always be evident on game film
Professional football opportunities are extremely competitive, and no showcase guarantees a contract or roster position. However, additional exposure and the ability to build relationships with professional personnel can be valuable throughout the evaluation process
‼️My advice to every invited player is simple: Take advantage of the opportunity, come prepared, compete, be coachable and approach the entire experience professionally
Looking forward to another outstanding event January 8–10, 2027, in Fort Worth, Texas!
It’s Not Where You Play, It’s How You Play!
