"Some Canadians may find these [religious] beliefs objectionable, old-fashioned, or even hateful. But a free country does not criminalize the expression of sincerely held religious doctrines. We debate people we disagree with. We do not silence them, and we certainly don’t arrest them."
We continue to demand the withdrawal of Bill C-9 in its entirety.

This weekend, a pro-Israel organisation tried to stop the Palestinian flag from being raised at Toronto City Hall. Ontario’s Divisional Court rightly dismissed their injunction today.
The Palestinian flag is not a symbol of hate or terror. It's a symbol of identity and hope for a country and people besieged and subjugated.
Well done to our own @martinezdefence and the legal teams that intervened @nccm @CMLAACAM

The @globeandmail Editorial Board just published one of the most misleading takes on free speech in recent memory—twisting protest into “hate” and discomfort into censorship. This editorial is full of double standards cloaked in the language of “balance”.
Let me break down the double standards.🧵 1/8

It was almost impossible to confirm - until now.
These are the officers who were involved. And for one, it wasn't his first fatal encounter:

CMPAC, @CJPME and 60+ civil society organizations have sent a letter to Ontario’s Ministers of Public Safety and Attorney General, condemning the misuse of the Hate Crimes Working Group (HCWG) against Palestinian-Canadians, Muslim-Canadians, and their allies. The letter highlights how the HCWG has been weaponized to target those advocating for Palestinian rights, including the unjust decision by Assistant Crown Attorney Moiz Karimjee to drop charges against Lorna Bernbaum, who assaulted a Palestinian activist during a protest.
The organizations are calling for the dismantling or reform of the HCWG, an independent investigation into Karimjee’s actions, and the dropping of politically motivated charges against activists. They also demand the recognition of anti-Palestinian racism within Ontario law and the withdrawal of support for the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
