"Can you explain why this member is getting a promotion after he ripped off the people of this province?" On the first day of the fall sitting, Premier Ford dodges questions about why Stan Cho, who resigned from cabinet this summer after charging taxpayers for local hotel stays, has been promoted to an education role with a $22K pay bump.

A common misunderstanding of Sexual Strategies Theory is that men want sex and women want relationships. But the theory hypothesises that both sexes have short- and long-term mating strategies, with predictable sex differences therein. A nice recent illustration is that Benenson & Markovits (2024) found that a mutually loving relationship was a top life priority for both sexes. Men nevertheless placed more weight on having many sexual partners and a physically attractive romantic partner. Both desires can coexist. Men’s greater desire for sexual variety doesn’t mean they don’t want love and commitment.
I really hate how people like you act as if men are inherently averse to relationships and that sex is final objective. The vast majority of men also crave relationships and romance, but most men are seen as invisible/interchangeable and experience neither.

Here’s a simple hack to potentially enhance rectus femoris development. Instead of performing leg extensions in the traditional upright position (90° of hip flexion), try reclining the backrest to reduce the degree of hip flexion. This places the rectus femoris at a longer muscle length, conceivably increasing passive tension and thus providing a greater stimulus for hypertrophy. In support of this strategy, a recent study by Larsen et al. (PMID: 39699974) found that performing leg extensions at 40° versus 90° of hip flexion produced appreciably greater rectus femoris growth at both the proximal (12.4% vs. 4.6%) and distal (15.8% vs. 10.9%) regions. Alternatively, no meaningful differences were observed in vastus lateralis hypertrophy, highlighting how changes in exercise positioning can differentially affect the growth of individual quadriceps muscles. Bottom line: Small adjustments in exercise setup can make a meaningful difference in muscle development, underscoring the importance of understanding applied anatomy to optimize hypertrophic outcomes. Sometimes, a simple change in positioning is all it takes to enhance your training stimulus. tandfonline.com/doi/10.1080/…

A new paper by John Catanzaro, Nicolas Hulscher, and Peter McCullough proposes that mRNA COVID vaccines may produce persistent biological effects and potentially transfer vaccine-derived material between people. The accompanying article goes further, calling for an immediate halt to mRNA technology. Those are extraordinary claims. But the paper also cites several genuine scientific observations that deserve to be understood rather than dismissed. So what does the evidence actually establish? And where does a plausible biological mechanism become an unsupported conclusion? Let’s examine the science.

In America, men have worse health outcomes across every ethnic, racial and socioeconomic group; they are more likely to die at every age; and they lead in 13 of the top 15 causes of death. Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health spends about 2.5 times more on women’s health research than it does on men’s, and this has been true for nearly forty years. Yet, despite this… there are now eight federal, tax-funded Offices of Women’s Health, and zero for men. And so, statistically speaking, the formation of the first Office of Men’s Health seems like a no-brainer, and an urgently needed step to help stem the deluge of early male deaths. But sadly, many still find it a controversial ask, and remain dedicated to undermining any political move to open such an office. Instead, such people insist the opposite is true: that women’s health is where attention, and all the funding, should go. So let’s look at the stats and ask what is so unpopular about men living long, healthy, happy lives… What do you think? ~ My new Ask Me (Us) Anything with @LisaBritton is out now! youtube.com/watch?v=bAYEaT8W… Men lead in 13 of the top 15 causes of death sciencedirect.com/science/ar… NIH Gendered Funding jameslnuzzo.substack.com/p/n… Men and boys have higher mortality at every age washingtonpost.com/wellness/… Men have worse health in every group congress.gov/bill/119th-cong…

TRUMP’S TRADE DEAL LET AN AMERICAN COMPANY IMPORT CANADIAN CHEESE DUTY-FREE. NOW HE’S TAXING IT 50%. And the company is suing him. Gellert Global Group, a third-generation American family business, imports specialty cheeses from Canada. Some are made using milk supplied by American dairy farmers in New York. The milk crosses into Canada, becomes cheese, and returns to American consumers. Under Trump’s own USMCA trade agreement, the company previously imported qualifying cheese duty-free. Now it faces a 50% tariff imposed under a separate, Depression-era law. In one documented shipment, Gellert says it paid more than $60,000 in tariffs on approximately $120,000 worth of cheese. The company estimates the duties could cost it $40 million annually. Consider the economics. American farmers supply the milk, Canadian workers make the cheese, and American businesses import and sell it. Washington then imposes an enormous tax on that supply chain, supposedly to protect American economic interests. When protecting American industry means taxing American businesses for products made partly from American agricultural output, who exactly is being protected?

SpaceX Blocked A U.S. And NATO Satellite to Assist a Russian Intercept After Crippling Ukraine's Air Defenses The Math Proves the Reality that Musk doesn't want you to see. On Oct 13-14, SpaceX restricted Starshield/Starlink during a 39-missile Russian attack, cutting Ukrainian drone intercepts by 23% and stranding U.S. personnel in Kyiv. Forty-eight hours later (Oct 15), SpaceX blocked U.S.-licensed NRO, Space Force, and NATO radar satellite ICEYE-X36 in orbit so Russia's COSMOS 2612 weapon could intercept it (99.89%-99.98% posterior) Our Model Demonstrates that the Russian intercept of the US/NATO ICEYE X-36 satellite (contemporaneous with the throttling of Starlink) would not have been possible, and almost certainly not been attempted, without SpaceX resources. At a material opportunity cost, Russia sprinted its COSMOS satellite to intercept ICEYE X36. Based on a previous attempt in June during which X36 maneuvered to evade COSMOS, Russia knew that this would be successful only if X36 could not maneuver. On October 15, SpaceX fixed X36 in place by issuing a collision alert for a sub-kilometer approach with its Starlink 35856 when SpaceX's own data shows that the actual distance was 4.8-5.0x as great. SpaceX issued no warning to COSMOS despite the fact that its sprint was far more threatening than the stable X36 orbit. SpaceX did not maneuver its Starlink 35856 satellite to clear the supposed collision risk. How, absent coordination with SpaceX, could Russia have known that SpaceX would take actions that (a) misrepresented the danger posed by X36, and (b) resulted in the fixing of X36 thereby enabling COSMOS's successful intercept? Thus, SpaceX was directly involved in simultaneously compromising Ukraine’s defensive and offensive capabilities. The conjunction of these two events makes innocent explanations untenable. The Pentagon Capture & Iran Round Two Trap: Pentagon CTO Emil Michael who cashed out $7M–$35M from Musk’s inner-circle SpaceX vehicles (M8/Gigafund 0.1 and M6/Valor M33 II) and KQ Partners / xAI (selling xAIfor $5M–$25M three days before taking over CDAO/OSCand 21 days before SpaceX bought xAI, while keeping M8, M6, M9, M10 & Nomadic open) and Pete Hegseth purged rival Anthropic in two hours, surrendered combat command over US drones used to attack Iran to Starlink’s "Terms of Service," and on October 2 named Musk Co-Director of Project Meridian to design the Pentagon's "Future of Warfighting" just as America enters Iran Round Twowith depleted Patriot/THAAD magazines and Russia feeding U.S. warship/aircraft locations to Tehran. SpaceX’s actions in Ukraine raise serious questions about its alignment with US security interests and its reliability as a cornerstone of US defense. These questions are particularly troubling given the effectively irreplaceable position SpaceX has been granted by the Hegseth/Emil Michael Pentagon. $SPCX $TSLA Our full quantitative analysis below w/ @streetwiseprof

It is unclear whether Putin is lying about Russian gains or being lied to by his own military—or both. Russian military correspondents constantly complain of what they call “beautiful reports” that Russian military units send to higher headquarters, claiming gains they have not made. Ukrainian forces say that they have been able to use the Russian military’s own internal culture of lying to their advantage, luring Russian troops into traps because the Russians think that they are moving through territory they control. Leaked Russian military maps show phantom gains, often matching Putin’s claims. The pervasive lying within the Russian military is a problem for Russian soldiers, but likely an advantage for Putin, as it supports his own efforts to present Russian forces as advancing and winning when, in fact, they are doing neither.
Ukraine, not Russia, has held the initiative in key sectors of the frontline for much of the year. Ukrainian forces have decisively defeated the main Russian offensive intended to complete the seizure of Donetsk Oblast in 2026. Ukrainian forces operationally defeated the Russian northern pincer in the Lyman direction and defeated the Russian military command’s plan to conduct a wide encirclement of Ukraine’s Fortress Belt. Ukraine’s Operation Vivaldi resulted in the liberation of around 277 square kilometers and 16 settlements north and northeast of Lyman over four phases that Ukrainian 3rd Army Corps Commander Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi began announcing in September 2026, although the operation likely began around March 2026.

Putin, Trump and MAGA love repeating the story that NATO betrayed Russia by expanding eastwards, supposedly breaking a promise never to admit countries once trapped under Soviet communist rule. There is one rather inconvenient detail they always leave out: those countries desperately wanted to join. And with good reason. They remember Soviet occupation, political executions, mass deportations to Siberia, forced collectivisation, prison camps, secret police, censorship and generations of lives destroyed by Moscow’s glorious socialist paradise. Families disappeared. Countries lost their independence. Ordinary people could be imprisoned for expressing the wrong opinion. When communism collapsed, these nations did not need NATO to persuade them to escape Russian influence. They practically ran towards the door. Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czechia and the others understood something the MAGA intellectual establishment apparently struggles with: living next to Russia is considerably more pleasant when Russia cannot decide how you live. And that brings us to Serbia. Aleksandar Vučić, a leader who spent years cultivating Moscow while balancing Serbia’s European ambitions, has just been defeated by a student-led democratic movement. The celebrations in Belgrade tell their own story. Serbia has its own complicated history, and nobody should pretend this election settles every question about NATO or EU membership. But it exposes the central absurdity of Moscow’s worldview. When a European leader continually argues against Western integration while protecting Russia’s influence, the obvious question is whose interests he actually serves. There is no need to invent secret payments to recognise a politician doing Moscow’s work. NATO did not expand eastwards because Washington forced unwilling nations into an alliance. It expanded because countries with experience of Russian domination wanted protection from ever experiencing it again. Putin, Orban, JD Vance, Hegseth and Trump calls that Western aggression. Russia, meanwhile, has spent centuries discovering that keeping its neighbours within its sphere of influence generally requires threats, repression or an army. That tells you almost everything about which civilisation has something worth offering.
