Rx opioid pain medications are too vital and too safe, and there are too many patients with painful conditions, to have to require a permission slip from an MD office or hospital that won't provide one.
Make them OTC regulate them as is done w alcohol. People are no more likely to 'abuse' them than they 'abuse' alcohol or tobacco or dozens of other things. And in a supposedly 'free country' that should be their choice, not the government's.
