Something I’ve never talked about publicly:
I got divorced three years ago.
I hear from a lot of guys going through marital issues or divorce now. I don’t pretend to know what’s right for anyone else’s marriage or life. But when someone asks how to get through it, my advice is pretty consistent:
I’m not pro-divorce (the opposite, actually). But if you’re going through it, there’s a lot of good life on the other side. You might not see it yet. That’s okay.
Be kind to yourself. Ask for help! Don’t suffer in silence. I had lots of people in my corner. One person in particular, @pinpulleddrmf, deserves a special thank you for the countless hours of conversation and support.
If you have kids, keep showing up. Give them love, stability, and room to have their own feelings. If they’re okay, you’ll be fine!
Put your energy into what you can control: your choices, your words, and the parent and person you want to be.
Focusing on fairness or anything you can’t control is total waste of time.
Three years later, my life is filled with lots of love and happiness and I’m grateful for the life I’m building and pumped about what’s ahead.
And for the entrepreneurs reading this: give your life outside work the same care and attention you give your business. I know you don’t believe me, but it CAN happen to you!
Make time for your relationships. Have the tough conversations. Ask for support before you feel like you need it. It might be too late!
Being able to handle a lot doesn’t mean you have to handle everything alone.
If you’re in the thick of it right now, I’m rooting for you.
You’re going to be OK! 🫡

I’m done pretending this shit is normal.
No city should have a "fentanyl alley". I’ll clear it all up by the end of 2027.

Also note that LAUSD is spending more on employees, but these additional dollars are increasingly spent outside the classroom.
Between 2013 and 2023, inflation-adjusted expenditure on employee compensation grew by about $1.7 billion or 27% (despite losing 35% of their students).
Total dollars going to teachers rose by $85.4 million, as their share of employee compensation fell from 52% to 42%.
The problem isn't just that LAUSD is spending more than they take in, its priorities are also out of whack.

Math is hard for the LAUSD.
"Enrollment declined from 440,365 to 369,830 students, a decrease of about 16%. Over the same period, the total of 'full-time-equivalent' jobs increased from 60,344 to 64,148, or about 6.3%"

So Elon sends people to space and everyone hates him, but Microsoft gives a buyout to 60,000 workers and Bill Gates is a hero. Make it make sense.
BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg.
Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible.
This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.

Hispanic California resident calls for a boycott of Stars and Stripes Gas Stations because they dare support Steve Hilton for Governor
The gas station was giving away $3.00 per gallon gas as a promotion because $3.00 gas is one of Hilton’s campaign promises
This Hispanic resident is outraged by this and wants everyone to boycott and vote Blue so they can keep paying $6.30 per gallon gas
You can’t more this make sense

POWAY, SAN DIEGO COUNTY: This is the only poll I need to see.
As Becerra tries to run out the clock, there is REAL ENERGY on our side!
Don’t wallow. Don’t sit this out. We still have 10 days to maximize turnout. If every Californian who wants change votes for it, we win!

Honestly, one of the best reasons to vote early is that it reduces the amount of political text messages.

SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS GROCERY EXECUTIVES, BUT I’M DONE.
I just pulled a $4.99 box of cereal off the shelf, brought it to the register, and watched the scanner ring it up as $7.49.
When I told the cashier, she said: "Oh, that’s the digital coupon price. You have to download our store app, create an account, search for the item, and clip the digital coupon before scanning."
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
You inflated the shelf price by 50%, locked the normal price behind an app, and forced me to hand over my personal phone data and email just to pay the actual retail value of a box of food?
Stop hiding basic shelf pricing behind data-harvesting apps.
