Some want to remove livestock from the planet, but in fact we need many more animals on the planet. In #Hoofprints I explain why.@fleroy1974 @SamOsbo05700900 @SusanMacMillan @ILRI @cheffernan_LIDC @
There's almost a month to go till #HoofprintsOnTheLand by @IlseKohler is published! This book is a timely exploration of how #herding communities can be the key to restoring land & soil @isabella_tree @PastureForLife 🐪🌱

#DYK camels are bigger than cattle but eat and drink less than cattle. Camel dropping is used to treat ringworms in nomad children. When camel dropping is anaerobically digested, no sign of burning fuel/methane is released. However, both are kind.

The most hit and vulnerable communuties of climate change in Somalia are agro-pastoralists as they encounter most of climate risks such as droughts, floods & rainfall failure so employing climate-resilient agriculture would a sustainable practice for them to deal with the crisis.

To counter the "rearing animals is bad for the planet" narrative, we need to understand nomadic pastoral systems in ways that begin with, and respect, local knowledge and context pastres.org/2021/11/12/why-m… (Pic by co-author @IanScoones )
#Shame on developed nations for shifting their responsibilities of #Climate Change to the poor #pastoralists. The #African States are not responsible for climate change. Please keep quiet if you cant help us adapt to the #ClimateCrisis you have caused or stop breathing out CO2.
Good climate journalism can help protect our environment 💚
With 🇬🇧 training, Abdishakir Shaashaa, of City Media in Jowhar, looks at methane gasses released by residents innocently plastering cow dung on their houses, not knowing the impact on the climate.
