BREAKING: CSSA and the individual plaintiffs in Del Toro v. Polis have filed a motion for preliminary injunction asking a federal court to temporarily block SB25-003’s permit-to-purchase requirements.
Colorado had roughly 16 months to build this system. In several counties, the process still is not operational. Applicants are being sent back and forth between sheriffs and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (the agency administering this system) for answers about basic requirements, including where to obtain the required background check.
For Coloradans who cannot complete the process, the SB25-003 is a de facto ban.
We are asking the court to provide immediate relief while our broader constitutional challenge proceeds.

Hunting isn’t a leftover privilege. It’s Colorado tradition — and hunters have always been the ones funding and practicing science-based wildlife management.
Amendment 83 would lock in a constitutional right to hunt and fish by traditional methods, make hunting and fishing the preferred way to manage fish and wildlife, and keep the state’s power to regulate for sound science, public safety, and future opportunity.

After signing HB26-1126 into law, he argued he shouldn’t be a defendant in CSSA’s lawsuit because the Department of Revenue — not his office — enforces its de facto gun registry.
The court let him out. DOR executive director Heidi Humphreys, who was appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the governor, remains on the hook.
Polis tucked tail and ran, but the fight to overturn his unconstitutional gun registry is only getting started.

Where the process is not operational, Coloradans cannot complete it at all.
