Since the beginning of the escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian war, more than 550 cultural landmarks and institutions have been damaged and destroyed. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of exhibits in the temporarily occupied territories were looted and lost forever.
On 19 August, a Russian Iskander missile hit the very center of Chernihiv.
The attack resulted in the death of 7 people with at least 180 injured. The missile detonated above the Drama Theate, not only damaging to the building but also to the surrounding historical quarter.
