Our @FIB_Kenya tour then took us to their ground-floor offices at Crawford Business Park on State House Road, where we sat down with Rachel Githinji to talk all things bonds and Treasury bills. Together, we explored this side of the investment market, unpacking how these instruments work and what investors need to understand when considering them as part of their financial journey. It was an opportunity to bring a familiar topic closer to home, making the conversation around bonds and T-bills more accessible for anyone looking to invest with greater understanding and confidence. During our tour of @FIB_Kenya we stepped into the Dealing Room to meet the traders and get a closer look at the people and processes behind the trades. Through conversations with the team, we explored their different roles, how they monitor market movements, and what goes into executing transactions on behalf of investors. It was an opportunity to connect the investment conversations we often hear with the practical work that happens behind the scenes. From interpreting market information to acting on client instructions, this part of the tour brought the trading process to life, offering a better understanding of how investors participate in the financial markets. #CTABrandStories #CTABrandExperience #CTA101 @OakSpecialFund @Kiambati_invest @rina_hicks @astarthelight

Before electronic share records, buying shares in Kenya meant waiting for a paper certificate to prove your ownership. That wait could leave an investor unable to sell, even as market prices fell. In this historical account on CTA’s The Play House, Bob Karina explains the paperwork that once underpinned Kenya’s stock market. When part of a shareholding was sold, the company’s registrar had to update its records, cancel the original certificate and issue new certificates reflecting the buyer’s and seller’s holdings. Signature discrepancies could delay the process further, sometimes requiring shareholders to appear before the registrar to verify their identity. The introduction of the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC) marked a major transition in how share ownership was recorded and transferred. Bob recalls the process known as immobilisation, through which investors submitted their physical certificates via stockbrokers so their holdings could be recorded electronically. This reduced reliance on the movement and processing of paper certificates, making transactions more efficient. Drawing on what he describes as 16 years of service on the CDSC board, beginning at its formation, Bob offers a firsthand perspective on the infrastructure behind this transformation. His account also highlights the challenges surrounding old certificates, forgotten investments and shares whose owners or beneficiaries may be unaware of their existence. This conversation traces a pivotal chapter in Kenya’s capital markets: the transition from paper-based proof of ownership to electronic records, and why that change mattered for investors’ ability to trade. @OakSpecialFund @FIB_Kenya #CTABrandStories #CTA101

Imagine being 20 and choosing your financial future over money you could spend today. For Martha Inyuma, that choice started with a simple habit: leaving money untouched in her bank account, even when she felt broke. No locked account. Just the daily discipline of telling herself, “I can live without this money.” When the opportunity came to choose between a cash bonus and investing in TSAVO apartments, Martha chose her first two units. Today, the Gen Z FIRE Partner at TSAVO owns 12 units and is working towards a bold goal: 100 studios by 2030. For many young Kenyans, saving can feel impossible when rent, fare, food and family responsibilities are competing for every shilling. Then there is the pressure to look like you are doing well, even while trying to find your footing. Martha’s story speaks to that tension and invites us to ask: what would it look like to give our future a place in the budget too? With gratitude to God and honesty about the discipline it takes, Martha shares a journey that is still unfolding. She is building towards a life where passive income gives her more freedom to choose how she lives. Watch her story on CTA. Whether you are saving your first KES 1,000 or considering your first investment, there is something powerful about seeing someone from your generation build a future you can begin to imagine for yourself. #CTABrandStories @tsavo_ke #CTA101

Everyone wants to make money while they sleep. How much are you willing to change while you’re awake? For Leonard and Emily Mcharo, financial freedom became a specific target that shaped their marriage, careers and everyday choices. In this conversation, the @tsavo_ke founders unpack the intensity behind their pursuit of passive income and why cash flow mattered so deeply to them. It is a powerful look at what happens when a dream becomes clear enough to organise your life around, and important enough to keep pursuing when the plan starts falling apart. #CTABrandStories #CTA101 Watch The Series Here - youtube.com/watch?v=e6RJE14Y…

Getting an internship opens the door. What makes a company want you back? For TSAVO, the answer lies in how you carry the responsibility you have been given. This conversation explores the initiative, ownership and independent thinking that make someone stand out, especially when nobody is following up. Whether you are starting your career or hoping to grow, it poses a powerful question: do people have to chase you, or can they trust you to carry your part? @tsavo_ke #CTABrandStories #ThePlayHouse #CTA101 Link To Playlist - youtube.com/watch?v=e6RJE14Y…
