"Decision makers must take urgent and bold action to reduce poverty rates for Scotland’s tiniest citizens, so they can enjoy the healthy, happy and thriving childhoods they deserve. There must be no limits to childhood, or to what a child can achieve."
EXC: A Scots charity has called for a £100m boost for parents to cut baby poverty rates in low income families.
Save the Children say their plan could benefit 30,000 kids in affected families.

Every parent wants to give their baby the best start in life possible. But, heartbreakingly, over one in three families with a baby under one are living in poverty.
📣 We’re calling for the next Scottish Government to do #BetterforBabies

Good to check in (2/3 April) with @SaveChildrenSCO team on @scotgov target to get child poverty below 10% - some progress but not enough to meet the target by 2030 - and to talk to our parents advisory panel on how to push for greater ambition

New statistics show that child poverty rates in Scotland have fallen.
Our actions, including delivering the Scottish Child Payment and expanding free school meals, will benefit the poorest families by an estimated £2,600 in 2025-26.

Today’s child poverty stats for Scotland show that investing in social security makes a real difference but needs to be scaled up if we’re to eradicate child poverty and meet the 2030 targets.
Claire Telfer retweeted
We acknowledge the slight reduction in child poverty however, figures remain significantly above the interim target. @ScotGov must do more to prioritise ending child poverty to meet targets. Too many children in Scotland are still growing up in poverty. 👇 aberlour.org.uk/news-item/ab…

🚨 BREAKING: Child poverty has hit a new record high in the UK.
These figures are a source of national shame. The rise in child poverty to 4.5 million is a direct consequence of political choices.

We fear child poverty levels will rise as a direct result of the welfare reforms announced today.
870k children live in families that receive PIP & 290k of these are already in poverty.
A reduction in income for families with a disabled parent means more children will suffer.
NEW: Liz Kendall, the welfare secretary, announces £5bn of benefits cuts, with the bulk coming from tightening eligibility for personal independent payments, the key disability benefit not linked to work.
The changes mean that only the most severely disabled will qualify. Claimants will need to score four points in at least one activity to qualify for the daily living allowance.

❗ UK aid is a lifeline to millions of people. This cut is a betrayal of the world’s most vulnerable children.
UK aid is essential for our long-term security and prosperity. Issues such as poverty, conflict and climate disasters do not stay contained in one place – they threaten us all.

We are disappointed to hear reports that the UK Government is considering keeping the two-child limit in place.
No child should be punished for the size of their family.
Removing the two-child limit would lift at least 500,000 children out of poverty, it must be scrapped.
Raising benefit limit from two to three children remains an option. But overall cap will stay prompting 'deep disappointment' among backbenchers

📣new @jrf_uk analysis
If the briefed total of £6bn cut to disability benefits goes ahead it will be the biggest cut to disability benefits since the OBR was created.
The mooted £5bn cut to PIP is x3 the size of the one that Iain Duncan Smith resigned over.
Hardship will rise
