This happens to me all the time. At a conference recently a “feminist” did not like a question I asked her during her talk and responded by saying “it’s always useful to know what young people think about these things”. We hold the same professional position.

Totally sliding this into my daily usage
#Swedish expression of the day: "Goddag yxskaft!" (lit. "Good day axe handles") is what you can say to someone when they give an answer totally unrelated to the question. Typically guessing or assuming what the other person asked, but not knowing, justifies the expression.
