In April 2023 four Otter & Squirrel road signs were stolen in the Ullapool area. They were paid for by children's charity Ullapool Sea Savers @SaversSea. This fundraiser will help buy replacement signs & fittings - please give what you can afford. Thanks.

Seaspiracy has sparked a huge public debate about our fisheries. It doesn’t get everything right, but it has lifted the lid on many issues which are sadly all-too present in our seas close to home openseas.org.uk/news/a-seasp…

2 options for catching Scallops.
The one on the right can wreck sensitive habitats yet is legally allowed in over 95% of our inshore waters; including within some Marine 'Protected' Areas.

37% of our marine environment is NOT protected. Many MPAs have NO protective measures in place. To claim this is at best misleading; at worst it allows ongoing destruction as folk think that something meaningful has been done to restore our beleaguered environment. #InshoreLimit
Replying to @MairiMcAllan
@MairiMcAllan on June 24th 'Given that we have already achieved 37% protection of Scotland’s marine environment.....'
But it's not all protected, is it? It's only designated, there is a huge difference. @scotgovs assessment shows freefall of habitats and carbon sinks. #COP26

These new rules are the barest minimum - in fact, woefully inadequate to stop the pollution killing our rivers. If livestock farmers cannot stay in business without poisoning the living world, governments should pay them to get out and do something else.

Bit of a no brainer @scotgov? We have these incredible assets around our coasts, we just need to protect them.

'The bigger picture of blue carbon is one of coastal habitat conservation. When these systems are damaged, an enormous amount of carbon is emitted back into the atmosphere, where it can then contribute to climate change.'
