COMMENTARY: Why Iran’s Democratic Future Cannot Return to Monarchy

“No to monarchy, no to theocracy” demarcation expresses the lessons of Iran’s democratic struggle and the responsibility to prevent another dictatorship.

"There is an assumption that military strikes could bring down the Iranian regime and that democracy would somehow follow. History gives us reason to question that assumption. Bombing can weaken military capabilities and disrupt institutions of power, but it cannot create the political institutions that a democratic society requires."

"The war has forced the regime to make the IRGC a more prominent power broker. This is because the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, lacks the political clout to consolidate power and make uniform decisions like his predecessors..."
Dr. Majid Sadeghpour, Political Director of the Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC), told Newsweek.
"The regime is now using all pillars of its power to stay alive with full force. It is surviving—barely." @Newsweek
We stand with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi's 10 Point Plan for a free and democratic Iran... NO to Shah, NO to Mullahs - YES to freedom and democracy in Iran!
In an interview with @Newsweek, Dr Majid Sadeghpour explains why the Iranian people are done with the monarchy that Reza Pahlavi is calling for. Read Below ⬇️

The son of the Shah, the overthrown dictator of Iran, has himself admitted that he collaborates with the IRGC and relies on them to gain power.
During the 2022 uprising, the Iranian people made it clear through their chants that they seek a pluralistic, multi-party republic based on the will of the people—not a system based on monarchy, lineage, or inheritance.
To liberate Iran, hope and support should be placed in the young men, women, and girls protesting in the streets—not in collaborating with the IRGC.
"The Iranian people, with the leadership of its organized opposition, are certainly capable of overthrowing the regime in Tehran. Foreign military support is not essential," OIAC source said, arguing that foreign intervention in its current guise will never work.
"Its aim is seemingly for the regime to change its behavior, as Iranians die to change the regime itself."
