Diogenes “Behold, a man” jokes will be funny no matter how many times I see them.

Last image of a wife and husband in Asheville, NC sheltering from the flood on a roof. The roof would soon collapse, causing them and their 6 year old grandchild to drown. Their daughter and mother of the child took the photograph. When the roof collapsed, she got wedged between debris and was able to be rescued an hour later. And things are way way worse in Burnsville. These pictures need to reach people.

Did u know a storm just wiped entire north carolina towns off the map and completely isolated Asheville, which has gone dark due to no Internet/water/power/ways to leave the city. Barely seen any news about it. Am I tripping cuz this seems like it should be bigger news

Imagine hundreds of tiny islands. Each island has 100 - 150 people on it. The island has no power, no comms, and is running dangerously low on food & water. And there are no boats. That is Western North Carolina tonight.

Didn’t realize how many folks have no idea where Asheville and these other underwater towns are. I’m in Raleigh- 2hrs inland. Asheville is 4hrs west of me, up in the blue ridge mountains. It was unthinkable that a hurricane could wipe out towns this far inland & high up.

It’s basically impossible to understand how expensive climate change is and is going to be.

People who keep saying that Appalachia should’ve been prepared for this really know nothing about the area or weather. This wasn’t a “once in a lifetime” thing. This was a “this has never happened since Noah” kind of thing. It’s one thing to live below sea level and have this happen, it’s a whole other to literally live in the mountains and have your home wash away or have water covering your house. People had less than a days warning of how bad it might be and nothing said it would be this bad. On the coast people know a week ahead what will likely happen because it happens all the time. It’s not the same.

My sweet, wonderful coworker, Taylor Wayment, passed away suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition over the weekend and her family is intentionally having her service on @taylorswift13’s birthday. She was a massive fan and would have gotten such a kick out of that 💜

I’m seeing an alarming number of people posting “maybe Hitler was right” and folks… you do not, under any circumstances, have to hand it to Hitler

Literally imagine the relationships some of us would have w our parents if they treated us like children who made mistakes rather than adults with bad intentions
My kid accidentally left the garage door open & our bikes got stolen, but I can’t bring myself to tell him because he is so critical of himself that I just know he’ll hold onto this & beat himself up over it for years

it was wildly unpopular and “pro-terrorism” to oppose the war in iraq at first, too, in case you forgot
