Abdul is great but the person I’m focused on in this video if his press staffer. She’s on top of it & directing the show. She’s scouting the gaggle & making sure her boss gets his word in. I also like her lil smile she did when Abdul was answering the Obama question.

“What is it like to meet somebody you looked up to for forever? I’ve read everything he’s written twice, literally everything,” Abdul El-Sayed says on meeting Obama for the first time Saturday. “I was grateful that he put this campaign in the broad sweep of his own experience.”

The best career a congressional staffer can make is to leave the Hill: - work in a local or state office - work in corporate/philanthropy - work in govt agencies These spaces will stretch them & diversify their experience hence making them stronger staffers when they go back.

Spent enough time in corporate that I like a 2x2. What does trust look like when we look at it as transactional vs. relational and signal vs. substance?

Welcome to my life. But also I kinda like working with older people because I know how to work with them and get what I need from them to get the work done. And the OP is 100% right that it’s not for the weak Haha

"Do you worry [Abdul El-Sayed] is a bit too left wing to win in Michigan?" Michigan voter "At this point what do we have to worry about? Anything but what we have. We're on our way to hell so at this point socialist, socialise, social, dont matter to me, lower my cost of living"

I see some people clowning this video, but I think elected officials’ staffers should study it as a good PSA. A lane mix-up goes viral, and within days the mayor answers it himself, on the trail, on a bike. And comes off natural—almost like he's in his element.

A friendly bike & pedestrian lane PSA from your mayor.

I started watching this show (I’m on season 1) and omg I love it. I love a strong confident competent woman in a leadership role, esp governing. So good

Long form content has always been the key. Always. It’s also a better use of everyone’s time.

How electeds & candidates say things matter which is why it’s so important to get their voice right as a staffer or else it comes off inauthentic and inconsistent.

Whichever 2028 Presidential snags @roxierichner will be a campaign to watch, especially when it comes time for Michigan in the cycle. Roxie is light years ahead in her career and an extremely kind person. She was one of the people I was very excited to see out on the trail.

Her name is @roxierichner, and she runs comms for the campaign. Thank you all for filling me in. Running a gaggle that smoothly takes real skill, and she was locked in. Much respect

The Cheesecake Factory — an establishment I love — is so infamously gaudy and over-the-top the designer regularly gives interviews about it
Steve Krakauer
@SteveKrakOct 24
This line is getting praise on X, but it’s actually elitist garbage written by a speechwriter who clearly hasn’t spent much time in a Cheesecake Factory, which has none of the gaudy Trump aesthetic, and just feels good to say because it represents flyover MAGA “night out.”

Great staffers are hard to come by nowadays because it feels like (not always true) they want to be the talent so I like to give flowers where it’s due. I don’t know her name but she’s great.

JFC, people. Obama wasn’t making fun of people who eat at The Cheesecake Factory. He was making fun of the decor: part faux Italian villa, part Egyptian palace, part Las Vegas fever dream. Unless you invented eating mozzarella sticks amidst the architectural splendor of a collapsing empire, please chill.
