With profound sorrow, we mourn the passing of #PopeFrancis, a shepherd to millions and a beacon of faith and compassion. His death leaves an immeasurable void in the Church and the world. brnw.ch/21wS7xX
An excellent video with two of our Country Representatives, Haydee Diaz and Daniel Mumuni, discussing the importance of #localization. This is part of the #DevexSeries on local leadership, #RootsofChange.
International NGOs have an important role to play in supporting smaller, local partners to take their rightful place at the table, say Catholic Relief Services’ Daniel Mumuni and Haydee Diaz.

We know that #localization is key to reshaping and modernizing aid, but there are some myths we need to dispel. Please take a moment to read a @Devex #oped that three of our partners and I wrote about this important topic. brnw.ch/21wIpiI #RootsofChange
.@ChrisVanHollen, thanks for our meeting today to discuss the urgent humanitarian needs in #Gaza. I appreciate that you took the time to visit the region yourself and have called for safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to relieve the intense suffering.
I'm just back from #Gaza and other Middle East locations and saw with my own eyes that our team is courageously responding to unbelievable needs. I've briefed @ChrisCoons and @SenatorCardin on the humanitarian needs and CRS' response. I appreciate their interest and leadership.
Despite the challenges and the difficult context, the CRS team is providing assistance to the most vulnerable in a verifiable, controlled, and systematic manner. Here are my reflections from the trip. brnw.ch/21wGujJ
It was an honor this morning to meet with a delegation of Catholic leaders from Côte d'Ivoire in the CRS office as they begin a week in Washington, DC to meet with decision-makers about the situation of violence in the central Sahel region. #PeaceInSahel
Members of the Côte d'Ivoire delegation are Bishop Bruno Essoh Yedoh, Diocese of Bondoukou (4th from left); Bishop Joseph Aka, Diocese of Yamoussoukro (3rd from right); and Ms. Anna Kone, a member of the Episcopal Subcommittee on Justice, Peace, and Environment (2nd from right).
As Catholic leaders with first-hand knowledge of the situation, the delegates bring an important and needed voice to Washington, DC to draw attention to the growing violence. #PeaceInSahel

I'm pleased to say that the 12th in-person @ICT4DConference is coming back to Ghana! It's a chance to network with 800+ ICT4D practitioners & experience hands-on, interactive learning sessions from experts around the world.

We are monitoring the situation closely as #Cyclone #Mocha makes landfall on #Bangladesh and #Myanmar.
#Cyclone #Mocha is expected to make landfall on #Bangladesh & #Myanmar tomorrow, bringing heavy winds & rain. The world's largest refugee settlement, home to about 940K people, sits in the storm's path. If projections hold, this will be the strongest storm in the area since 2010.

Madagascar is right in the path of #CycloneFreddy, which has the equivalent strength of a Category 4 major hurricane. Our team in #Madagascar is preparing for a direct hit by moving supplies into position to respond quickly to immediate needs.
My statement about #PopeFrancis’ current trip, which calls us to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the #DRC and #SouthSudan.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Pope Benedict XVI and join Catholics around the world in mourning this great loss. Our hope is that his spirit of solidarity and steadfast faith lives on in the hearts and minds of Catholics everywhere.
I echo @OkeefeCRS' words: there’s much to applaud in the federal spending bill, and American leadership is paramount if we are going to protect and save lives. There's more work to be done.
