He was never elite in any way, shape or form 30 Spanish midfielders could have died and he'd never still get a call up He's one of the least talented CMs to play regularly in an Arsene Wenger midfield You can enjoy his work as a coach without re-writing recent history
The younger generation genuinely has no idea how ridiculous this man was in his playing days. 😭

📣 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT I FORMALLY ANNOUNCE MY CANDIDACY FOR THE FIFA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION — 18 MARCH 2027 RABAT, MOROCCO FOOTBALL BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE — NOT TO THOSE WHO CONTROL IT. Football stands at a defining crossroads. The decisions we make today will shape the future of our beautiful game for generations to come. WE DECLARE ZERO TOLERANCE for leadership that has humiliated the passion of five billion football fans around the world and insulted the dignity, dedication and integrity of the millions of people who devote their lives to our beautiful game. Football belongs to its people. Their passion deserves respect, their voices deserve to be heard, and their contributions deserve recognition — never humiliation, intimidation or contempt. After more than a decade of preparation, I formally announce my candidacy for the Presidency of FIFA in 2027. Alongside me stands my Hungarian wife and First Lady, Claudia — a pioneer with over 25 years of experience in professional men s football. Together, we share an unwavering commitment to restoring trust, reforming governance and reuniting the global football family. I bring the mentality of a player, the discipline of a defender and decades of experience from the pitch to the boardroom. I defended my team on the field. Now I am ready to defend football itself — its integrity, its people and its future. My candidacy is not driven by personal ambition, power or privilege. It is driven by responsibility, conviction and a profound love for the game that has given me everything. I AM NOT STANDING TO CONTINUE THE WAR. I AM STANDING TO END IT. No individual is greater than football. No institution should ever place itself above the game. This is not merely an announcement of candidacy. It is a call for fundamental change, a commitment to reconciliation and a vision for a new era of world football. I invite every member association, player, coach, referee and supporter across the world to read my full official presidential announcement attached below. 👇 Read it. Reflect on it. Challenge its ideas. Above all, join the conversation about the future of the game we all love. Exceptional @winexviv with the winning mindset for Life. Don’t settle….. keep reaching!✍🏾✍🏾✍🏾
A few months ago, my grammar was not particularly great, especially here on X. Then, one beautiful morning, I received a call from Dr. Oby Ezekwesili ( @obyezeks ) that changed that aspect of my life forever. She advised me to go back to Primary 3 and rebuild my foundation in English. She said something profound: Once you fix the foundation, everything else begins to fall into place. I took her advice wholeheartedly. I went back to study Primary 3 Grammar and Comprehension, and that simple decision transformed my command of English. I remain deeply grateful to @obyezeks for that invaluable piece of advice. Its impact on my life has been remarkable. But this experience taught me something much bigger about education. Many of us are struggling today, not because we lack intelligence, but because we are building on weak educational foundations. We keep trying to fix problems at the top when the real problems are at the bottom. Sometimes, the greatest form of progress is having the humility to go back to the basics and rebuild properly. You cannot build excellence on a foundation you have refused to repair.

FULLTIME Remo Stars 0-0 Nigeria 🇳🇬 U23 Quite a physically demanding game from both teams. Goalkeeper Michael Atata with some fine stops and interventions late on, while Emmanuel Olisa (Remo Stars) also kept his side in the game with some saves. Eric Chelle was on the touchline to dish out instructions, and he made quite a number of changes to the team as the game went on. The likes of Michael Atata, Lucky Oraro, Alfred Odinaka, Gift Osubi, Abdulmuiz Adeleke and Gafar Olaniyan completed the 90 minutes. #YourSportsMemo

This is why I appreciate @CalvinEmeka’s book, Laughter, Leather & Losses He details the history of Nigerian football from his recollections of it as a child all the way up to adulthood. His narration of Samuel Okwaraji’s death is one of the most chilling things I have read
I recently did this with my dad about the 1980 afcon final. He said he remembers watching Shehu Shagari running around the stadium on tv with the trophy. He was in Kuti Hall as a 19 year old. That clip of Shagari is nowhere to be found but I'm glad I learnt something new
