Grayson Waller recalls AJ Styles advising NXT talent to listen to the opinions of their higher-ups and not anyone on social media: “AJ Styles gave the best advice ever. He came down to NXT years ago and he said, ‘If there’s is a mean comment about you online, it doesn’t matter. If there’s is a good comment about you online, it doesn’t matter.’ He pointed at, at the time Hunter was still there, and it was Hunter, Shawn, Bloom. ‘Their opinion matters because they are the ones who’ve done this, and they are the ones who are gonna put you in places.’ I think sometimes it’s so hard now not to check and look for that comment and go, ‘Oh, this person said I’m good.’ When someone puts you over, it’s the best feeling. It’s just like, ‘Yes, I’m the man.’ But then you gotta realize, ‘Well, who is this?’ They don’t really understand.
