Social Democrats TD Gary Gannon has said that the decision of the Minister for Justice to remove an ad which sought to promote discussions about consensual hugs sets a "dangerous precedent".

The Journal has just causally assumed the gender of the child in the video.
Füčkíng outrageous stuff…
Consent ad controversy: Using Ireland's poor grannies and grandads to explain children’s boundaries was probably a misstep, but the message still matters...

The We Consent/Dublin Rape Crisis Centre campaigns - all funded by the Irish taxpayer - have lots of fascinating stuff aside from the evil hugging grannies.
This chap, for example, explaining to the women how to be a woman:
“Have questions to answer” 😆😂
You would think after a life long career in Irish politics he’d know there’s no such thing as accountability.
But..at least he voiced a personal opinion which is quite an achievement for any Irish politician these days.
This is a deeply hurtful & highly offensive portrayal of grandparents & families in today's Ireland. @DeptJusticeIRL & @GovIE have questions to answer.

*Important,
Let me explain the public money trail behind the viral advert about grandparents hugging their grandchildren.
Four Organisations keep appearing:
1. CUAN,
2. Community Foundation Ireland,
3. Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, and
4. We-Consent.
1. Cuan is the State agency.
Established in January 2024 to fund and coordinate domestic and sexual violence services, set standards, and run awareness campaigns.
It sits inside the Dept. of Justice
Its funding has risen from €58.6 million in 2024 to €84.4 million allocation for 2027 (+44% increase in three years!)
At end of 2024 it had 28 employees. That year it spent roughly €3 million on staff, administration and board costs + another €4.2 million on awareness campaigns.
In 2025 it allocated €58.36 million to 78 organisations (see pic below).
2. Community Foundation Ireland
Denise Charlton is CEO of Community Foundation.
She also sits on CUAN's statutory board, and is a named member of We-Consent’s advisory group.
Community Foundation Ireland helped fund the original We-Consent campaign (launched 2023 by DRCC, with Dept of Justice support).
Other CUAN board members also lead or sit on organisations that receive Cuan grants (including Women’s Aid and Galway Rape Crisis Centre and others).
These links are publicly disclosed. They are not evidence of wrongdoing. Everything here is above board.
But they do raise ordinary public-interest questions about conflict declarations, recusals, and how core grants are renewed versus the smaller open funding call (€3.2m in 2025).
3. We-Consent
We-Consent is a DRCC project, not a separate State body.
The precise cost, production details, and evaluation of this particular grandparents advert are not publicly broken out.
4. ***IMPORTANT**
Dublin Rape Crisis Centre does important work.
Supporting survivors and teaching boundaries are not in dispute.
But my question here is:
What measurable improvement has this new agency structure, CUAN, delivered per euro spent, and where is the independent comparison with the previous system?
*The graphic below shows how €58.3million was distributed in 2025. CUAN's total budget allocation for 2027 is €85million.
Note well👇
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
FOLKS, THESE ARE THE INDEPENDENT TDs SUPPORTING THIS GOVERNMENT.
They have also backed the Government’s position on the Triple Lock. All seven voted with the Government on the Triple Lock motion in the Dáil on 23 September.
So I think people are entitled to ask a simple question.
Why are they supporting this change, and what commitments did they get from Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael for supporting this Government?
The Triple Lock is far too important to just wave through. It deals with the circumstances in which our Defence Forces can be sent overseas and has long been seen by many people as an important safeguard around Irish military neutrality.
And to the Independent TDs supporting this Government, I would say this.
Time in the Dáil goes very quickly.
Governments come and go. Ministers come and go. But at the end of the day, every TD has to go back before the people who elected them.
Just look at what happened to the Green Party.
They went into the 2024 General Election with 12 TDs and came back with one.
So before continuing to back major decisions like this, ask yourselves whether the people who elected you actually support what is being done.
If people want to contact the Independent TDs supporting the Government, these are their public Oireachtas email addresses:
Seán Canney TD
[email protected]
Noel Grealish TD
[email protected]
Marian Harkin TD
[email protected]
Kevin “Boxer” Moran TD
[email protected]
Michael Lowry TD
[email protected]
Barry Heneghan TD
[email protected]
Gillian Toole TD
[email protected]
Email them. Ask them where they stand. Ask them why they are supporting this change. Let them know your own view.
And maybe put one simple sentence at the end of your email:
REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GREEN PARTY.
Once again Ireland tops the international wokefúćkery charts.

Michael Lowry you’d expect as a total immoral quisling.

Ok look the link to the poll is broken now..
While the government's plans to remove the Triple Lock are now set to go before cabinet, the plan has been criticised by opposition parties and academics alike.
