As a guy who has been learning about why people like or don't like modern (Retail) WoW, I've learned in certain angles that both arguments are very valid. I used to play on a TBC private server that died over a decade and a half ago, am now playing on a Wrath Private server...

I'm on the private server, and it has been one of the best gaming experiences of my life, mostly due to how everyone is nice and helpful. I forgot about that aspect of the genre after playing SWTOR, a game that emulates retail pretty well when it comes to it's QoL...

...But also with its downsides, since SWTOR basically was the first anti-social MMO, Retail WoW just improved on that. Not a bad thing in my eyes, but not for everyone.

You can’t hide anymore
I guess I can say it now - so when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like.

Chris Avellone (Planescape, KOTOR 2, and Fallout: New Vegas) just dropped a MEGATON NUKE regarding BioWare's hiring practices... "...when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like." ITS TRUE. EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN SAYING. ITS ALL TRUE. HOLY SHIT!

Replying to @musco
@musco @GeekyFriedRice @SWTOR Given the news about BioWare, and EA making moves, should we be worried about SWTOR? Today’s news has some of us concerned that SWTOR is still in the “splash zone” of anything EA might do. Care to comment?

So it’s true. Broadsword saved @SWTOR by taking over development. Had that not happened, I’m sure the mmo would have shut down. SWTOR refuses to die.

They are the studio that got me passionate about Star Wars and changed the way I thought about stories in gaming. They lived long enough to become the villains, so I have no sadness regarding the studio closing.

Well, this is stupid for multiple reasons.
Blizzard has moved the WoW: Forever Stress Test to October 21st, instead of the previously announced October 19th. #Forever #Warcraft wowhead.com/news/blizzard-mo…

As a player who despises parsing tools, it should be used to see if your rotation is being effective or is capable to do the the content. Problem is people only use it as a standard of competence, without noticing if the players are doing other things to assist the group.
Blizzard should ban damage meters in WoW. They're genuinely harmful to players' mental health. I shouldn't have to feel judged just because I'm at the bottom of the meter. If we finish the dungeon, why does anyone need to know how little damage I did? My DPS is personal.

(SWTOR Rant) Look, I need to rant about this because this is interesting: The new packs now includes a level cap booster and free server transfers. I think this is very interesting because it tells me a few things I think devs may have noticed and are taking advantage of: ...

...But I assume majority of the player base will use it to boost characters in other servers to incentivize more GS grinding, thus more population and play time. Assuming this is correct, they still are not going to do a server merge. I wish they did.
