How does a post Christian world operate? Is it a series of ideological bubbles like the 20th century? Can society work without forgiveness?

According to a new study by David Rozado, there has been a big increase in news headlines suggesting fear, anger, disgust, and sadness since 2000, and especially since about 2010. Journalists are pushing your buttons.
We don’t believe Christianity. We have no express scapegoats, but we still need victims and victimizers. So we adopt the 20th century rationale and blame whole groups.
Govt loans-> overproduction of college-graduate elites (who like discrimination because of affirmative action)-> useless majors and underemployed->blame capitalism, blame society, demand more discriminatory govt action

Hard work is a competitive advantage.
And even the belief that hard work is a competitive advantage is itself now a competitive advantage.
This might be controversial to say in 2021 but - if you work hard and put yourself out there, you increase your odds of finding success in your career. I sat down with @shivanisberry for this interview (thanks!), she was kind enough to distill my rambling into a short thread 👇

I'm convinced being a happy person involves three simple things:
1. Watch and consume less news.
2. Care less about politics.
3. Spend less energy trying to change things that you have no control over.
I don't know a single happy person who does a lot of any of these things.

Before laughing at a joke, ask yourself:
• Does the joke avoid offensive subject matter?
• Is the comic representative of a marginalised group?
• Can you be sure the comic has never said or done anything problematic?
If the answer to any of these is no...
DO. NOT. LAUGH.

One of the more interesting kinds of US parochialism is the refusal to accept that other cultures detest wokeness — and recognize it as the next iteration of American imperialism.

Today is the third anniversary of the release of @JonHaidt & my book The Coddling of the American Mind. If we only knew how crazy the next 3 years were about to be. But I still think the book illustrates a lot about why we ended up here. amazon.com/dp/0735224919/ref… #Amazon

"some teenagers learn to adopt the language of antiracism and wield it against peers" is one throwaway line from this @powellnyt piece but if someone were to truly kick over that rock they'd find a whole writhing horrible world to explore nytimes.com/2021/08/27/us/ne…
