Oliver Marmol should be criticized for the way he’s managed the first 3 games against the Brewers. One of the biggest series of the year and the manager has yet to use his best relievers. Riley O’Brien, George Soriano, and Jojo Romero have thrown a combined 1 IP. The Cardinals have led for 11 of 18 innings through the first 2 games of this series. The pitchers who have pitched with the cardinals having the lead or tied this series (first two games) : Dustin May Justin Bruihl Ryan Fernandez Ryne Stanek x 2 Matt Svanson Bruce Zimmerman Oli was so concerned with saving the high leverage arms for opportunities that ultimately never presented themselves. I’d love to hear Oli’s thoughts on this on the Gashouse Gang @b_miklasz @ChrisRongey @Ackerman1120 #stlcards

Dustin May since 4/10 (only removes his first 2 starts) 2.89 ERA 2.86 FIP 8.13 K/9 2.34 BB/9 0.41 HR/9 1.8 WAR That’s good for 8th best WAR for all of MLB pitchers during that time. #stlcards

The Good: #stlcards rank 6th in baseball in non-pitching fWAR. With an average position player age of 24-25 years old, that’s very good. The Bad: Cardinals rank 28th in pitching fWAR. The Ugly: Cardinals rank dead last in K/9 by a wide margin at 6.87.

In 12.1 IP Svanson and Roycroft have given up 20 runs. That is 28% of #stlcards total runs allowed while only pitching 10% of the total innings pitched by Cardinal pitchers.

Combine this with a 121 wRC+ despite him only slugging .361 at the moment. The slug will come with time given his track record. The sky is truly the limit for JJ Wetherholt. #stlcards
JJ Wetherholt is currently tied with Bobby Witt Jr. for the MLB lead with 3 Outs Above Average

For a team that is in the midst of a rebuild, can someone explain to me why #StlCards Pedro Pages is on the roster over Jimmy Crooks? Crooks is the number 8 prospect in Cardinals system and is 24 years old with lots of minor league success. Pedro Pages is 27.

Sonny Gray game score for today was a 96. That ranks #2 in #STLCards history for a 9 inning game. Who’s #1? Shelby Miller in 2013 when he had a 98 game score. His line: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 13 K

Does Oli Marmol hate using his best reliever in high leverage situations? Where is Ryan Helsley?

Miles Mikolas has thrown 81 pitches. He has 2 swings and misses. The writing is on the wall. It doesn’t take much to understand it’s probably best to give these opportunities to someone else. #stlcards

Saying this while deploying Pham as a fixture in your lineup makes no sense at all. #STLCards
#STLCards manager Oli Marmol on Jordan Walker being used primarily vs. just LHP: “The big-league team has a need, and it's a right-handed bat. So, that's the simplest way to look at it. It’s not May; it's the end of the year. You have limited amount of games left, … (1/3)

Friendly reminder that the Cardinals believe that Brandon Crawford is a better use of a roster spot than these 2. #ForTheLou #STLCards
Jordan Walker with a 3 run homer and a triple and Luken Baker hit his 31st homer of the year tonight at Memphis. #STLCards

If it feels like the Cardinals don’t throw anyone out, it’s because they don’t. #STLCards have thrown out 17 of 106 base stealers for a measly 14% entering today. That’s the worst in baseball. League average is 22%. #ForTheLou

Just a reminder that this Cardinal team struggles vs lefties with a .639 OPS (2nd worst in MLB). Meanwhile in AAA: Luken Baker vs LHP: 1.112 OPS Brandon Crawford offers the Cardinals what exactly off the bench? #stlcards
