Nepal’s edible oil refining industry has grown into a major export-oriented sector, but its fortunes remain closely tied to tariff differentials and policy decisions across borders. A key takeaway from our latest analysis: tariff arbitrage continues to be the primary driver of export competitiveness, making the sector highly sensitive to regulatory shifts. Key insights: • Recent duty reductions by India have narrowed the tariff advantage enjoyed by Nepalese refiners, potentially moderating export growth and profitability. • Strong earnings in FY25-FY26 were supported by favourable tariff arbitrage, but margin pressures may re-emerge as the duty gap contracts. • Inventory holding risks remain significant, particularly in a volatile commodity price environment. • Debt servicing metrics, liquidity, and leverage will remain vulnerable if profitability weakens over a prolonged period. • Going forward, India's import duty regime and global edible oil price movements will be critical variables to watch. 𝗜𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲? CareEdge-ESG analyses why the answer matters for India’s industrial strategy. With the EU’s CBAM now in its definitive phase, carbon intensity is increasingly shaping market access and cost structures for steel, aluminium, fertilisers and hydrogen. For India, green hydrogen is emerging as a strategic industrial question, even as the economics remain challenging. Key takeaways from our latest analysis: Green hydrogen production costs in India remain 2–2.5x higher than grey hydrogen, making cost parity the sector’s biggest hurdle. The global market faces a significant execution challenge, with projects that are operational, under construction or near FID far below announced pipelines for 2030. For Indian steel exporters, CBAM-related carbon costs could materially influence competitiveness, strengthening the case for low-carbon production pathways. India’s combination of policy support, low-cost renewable energy and large industrial demand creates a meaningful opportunity, provided execution keeps pace with ambition. Private investment of $180–200 billion is expected through 2030, though announced commitments still exceed FID-backed investment. The real question for ESG-oriented investors and industrial strategists is where value will concentrate across the value chain. While credit growth remained robust, the improvement in sector-wide margins was largely driven by PSBs, even as funding costs continued to weigh on larger private banks. Key insights: • SCBs’ credit growth accelerated to 20.8% y-o-y, supported by corporate, MSME and retail lending demand. • Deposit growth improved to 16.2% y-o-y, narrowing the credit-deposit growth gap and easing funding pressures. • Sector-wide NIM rose to 2.98%, with PSBs posting a stronger improvement, while PVB margins remained flat amid FCNR(B)-related funding cost pressures. • With repo-linked loans repricing faster than deposits, margins are expected to remain broadly stable with an upward bias in H2FY27. The next phase of banking performance may be determined less by credit growth and more by the ability to sustain funding efficiency. For India, one of the EU’s largest trading partners, understanding and complying with CBAM is no longer optional. Our latest article from CareEdge-ESG explores what CBAM means for Indian exporters and importers, why certification is mandatory, and how businesses must prepare to remain competitive in a carbon-conscious global market. Key Numbers at a Glance 🔹 CBAM certificate price: ~€75-80/tonne (Q1 2026 EU Commission rate; EUA trading near €80/tonne by Jun 2026) 🔹 Steel + aluminium exports to the EU: over $10 billion annually, directly under CBAM’s scope 🔹 Full CBAM enforcement (financial obligations, certificate purchase) in effect since January 2026 Read full Report: careedgeesg.com/uploads/glob… Saikat Roy | Nikunj Dube | Nidhi Pathak #CBAM #CarbonBorderAdjustmentMechanism #ESG #IndiaEUTrade #CarbonRegulations #CareEdgeESG #Sustainability #ClimateFinance

𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 France's (A+/Negative) fiscal and debt metrics remain under pressure, as fiscal slippages have kept the debt trajectory elevated. With public debt continuing to exceed medium-term targets and recent budget measures offering only a modest reduction in the fiscal deficit, investor concerns have intensified amid rising debt-servicing costs, weak growth prospects and expectations of continued debt accumulation. The widening of French sovereign spreads highlights the extent to which fiscal strain and policy uncertainty are weighing on market confidence. Although France retains important credit strengths, including strong institutions, a large and diversified economy and deep capital markets, concerns over fiscal sustainability, policy uncertainty and reform execution continue to challenge the government's ability to place debt on a durable downward trajectory. As climate disclosures become increasingly tied to financing and risk management, the real question is no longer what companies commit to, but what projects get funded and why. #CareEdge-ESG delves deeper into this. Key takeaways: • Climate ambition must clear the test of bankability, where sustainability outcomes and financial viability intersect. • Global climate finance reached $1.46 trillion in 2022, yet annual investment needs are estimated at $7.4 trillion by 2030, highlighting the scale of the financing challenge. • Blended finance structures are emerging as a critical tool to mobilise private capital by addressing specific risk, return and liquidity constraints. • In India, BRSR Core, the RBI’s climate finance directions and a growing GSS+ debt market are strengthening the link between disclosure, financing and accountability. • Raising green capital is only half the story; proving measurable climate impact is becoming equally important. The latest edition of the CareEdge Markets Roundup: Macro Trends and Market Outlook points to a growing convergence of risks across commodities, currencies and financial markets. Key signals to watch: • Escalating disruptions in West Asia have kept oil markets tight, with elevated spot prices indicating persistent supply constraints. • Rising food and industrial metal prices are adding to inflationary pressures beyond energy, increasing risks to the global inflation outlook. • Markets continue to price in further monetary tightening globally, while domestic liquidity conditions have become less accommodative. • RBI interventions have helped stabilise the rupee, though elevated crude prices, capital outflows and global yields remain key pressure points. • Indian equities continue to face headwinds from FPI outflows, a stronger US dollar and higher energy prices. India’s agriculture loan book has seen improving asset quality ratios in recent years, but the 2026 monsoon shortfall may test that trend. According to CareEdge Ratings, stress is likely to emerge with a lag, as affected crop loans gradually turn into non-performing assets. Key takeaways: • Agriculture has the highest GNPA ratio among major sectors, with a GNPA ratio of 5.11% as of June 2026. • Around 68% of bank agriculture credit is concentrated in states that received rainfall 20% or more below normal during the 2026 monsoon. • The agriculture GNPA ratio is expected to rise to 5.3%-5.6% by March 2028, with monsoon-related stress likely becoming more visible through FY28. • Including restructured loans, stressed agriculture advances could reach 6.0%-6.3% of total agriculture advances by March 2028. • Loan waivers, rabi crop outcomes, and the extent of restructuring under the natural calamity framework remain critical monitorables. A closer look shows that lower crop and fire premiums masked robust traction in key retail-driven segments. Key takeaways: • Growth excluding fire and crop accelerated to 17.7%, leaving the widest gap versus reported growth in FY27 so far. • Health premiums grew 20.2%, led by 32.8% growth in retail health, which has remained above 30% throughout FY27. • Motor insurance grew 12.9%, marking the sixth consecutive month of double-digit growth, supported by stronger own-damage premium growth. • The sharp decline in crop premiums (-27.7%) reflects a high base and lower premium rates rather than weaker coverage. • Fire premium declines moderated for a second month, signalling that discounting may be beginning to ease. Watch: CareEdge Ratings Chief Economist Rajani Sinha says, "The main thing is that the government has sent a message that it is willing to step back and reduce its involvement in sectors where the private sector can take the lead. In this case, we are talking about the banking and financial sectors. To that extent, this is a good reform. As I mentioned, the government has been trying to carry out disinvestment for the last few years but has been unable to meet its disinvestment targets, even though they were quite reasonable..."

Watch: CareEdge Ratings Chief Economist Rajani Sinha says, "This year, India's gross FDI has been quite healthy. Last year, we received around $90 billion, and the gross FDI investment figures have also been good so far this fiscal year. The main concern has been net FDI investment. Due to high profit repatriation and significant FDI outflows from India, net FDI investment has remained quite weak. However, we have seen an improvement on that front as well..."
