“Sick kids and adults just weren’t staying home.” If staff stay home to recover when ill, they risk losing their job. If kids stay home to recover when ill, they risk a file with CPS. STAYING HOME ILL LITERALLY THREATENS SURVIVAL AND THE FAMILY UNIT. No sh*t they go in sick!
Confused and lost Reporter: “Dozens of students have been out sick because of WHATEVER ILLNESS is circulating.” Then: “They’re not exactly sure WHAT is making everyone so sick.” Kids and staff out with flu like, respiratory, and GI symptoms. School shut down through the weekend because “Sick kids and adults just weren’t staying home.” Here we are. Yet again stuck in the middle of a massive Covid wave and she out here stressing the word WHAT like this is a genuine mystery. Hello. It’s Covid. The “whatever illness” has a name. 🤦‍♀️

Christine Buckley was born in Dublin in 1946. But this baby girl had a Nigerian father which in 1940s Ireland was quite unusual. Christine was placed in Goldenbridge Industrial School in Inchicore, run by the Sisters of Mercy, and there she stayed until her teens. Goldenbridge was meant to be a place of safety and care for kids. But like most Industrial Schools it was a prison for innocent children where they suffered hunger, beatings and fear. And any difference, like being a mixed-race child, got you singled out for particular cruelty. Industrial Schools also involved forced child labour. In Goldenbridge girls were made to produce rosary beads in bulk, with punishment waiting for anyone who fell short of the quota. The irony of tarnishing a symbol of love and Gods mother by abusing children forced to manufacture them is a unique evil. After surviving years of incarceration Christine finally was old enough to leave and trained as a nurse and midwife, and spent years bringing other people's babies safely into the world. Like countless other women failed by the state and church they made a career being kinder and more humane to the innocent. In 1992, Christine Buckley told her story (and in doing so the story of countless other victims) on The Late Late Show. And sadly, like so many other tales of injustice told before Irish society was able to accept it, the reaction against her was ferocious. She was doubted, attacked and accused of exaggeration. And some of the doubters were powerful and had obvious self interests. She kept going anyway. The 1996 documentary Dear Daughter put the stories of survivors in front of a national audience, and denial became far harder to sustain. In 1999 the State finally apologised, and the Ryan Report of 2009 confirmed what survivors had said for decades. Christine Buckley founded the Aislinn Centre to support former residents of the institutions and gave hundreds of them something they had rarely had, a room full of people who believed them. She pressed for redress and for the truth to be told in full. She was the recipient of the Irish 'Volunteer of the Year' award in 2009. In December 2012, Trinity College awarded her an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in recognition of her work for people who were subjected to institutional abuse. She passed away on 11 March 2014, aged 67, having forced a nation to face its past and also created a better future for girls and women in Ireland. christineb.ie/

TUSLA STAFF SNOOPED ON MISSING BOY KYRAN DURNIN’S FILES AS GARDAÍ LAUNCHED MURDER INVESTIGATION An exclusive report in today’s Irish Daily Mail (29 October 2026) by political correspondent Muiris Ó Cearbhaill reveals that Tusla investigated employees for inappropriately accessing highly sensitive records concerning missing schoolboy Kyran Durnin. An inquiry identified eight breaches, including one on 17 October 2024, the day Gardaí upgraded their investigation into Kyran’s disappearance to a murder inquiry. Kyran was reported missing in August 2024, but Gardaí believe he may have died in 2022, when he was just six. Tusla’s case-management system records who opens files and requires staff to confirm a legitimate business purpose. Nevertheless, employees with no professional role in Kyran’s case accessed his confidential records. Some reportedly claimed a legitimate business reason for opening them. More than 20 staff members were examined during the inquiry. According to the newspaper, eight breaches were upheld, and further incidents were referred for investigation. The article does not identify the employees or say whether disciplinary action followed. Sources familiar with the investigation expressed concern that inappropriate access could disrupt the criminal inquiry. However, the newspaper provides no evidence that Tusla staff leaked information, interfered with evidence or obstructed Gardaí. One source characterised the incidents as staff being “nosy”; another indicated that they were considered low risk because there was no evidence of an intention to share information externally. The revelations are especially troubling given Tusla’s previous data-protection failures. In 2020 the Data Protection Commission fined the agency €200,000 over several breaches. One involved a staff member accessing records on behalf of a friend who was estranged from the person concerned. Tusla was required to improve safeguards against unauthorised access. Yet the Mail reports that Tusla failed repeatedly to honour commitments to audit staff access logs. Regular national and local auditing reportedly began only in the six months before these latest revelations, despite earlier commitments to the regulator. Tusla confirmed that management discovered the matter and that an immediate investigation was conducted. It described the incident as low risk, confirmed that breaches were upheld and referred to the Data Protection Commission, and said mandatory data-protection training for staff and contractors was being introduced. Kyran was not in State care, but Tusla had contact with him and his family and alerted Gardaí to significant concerns in August 2024. His disappearance and suspected death remain the subject of public concern. The questions for Tusla’s leadership are unavoidable. Why could staff access a missing child’s confidential records without a legitimate reason? Why were promised audits delayed? What consequences followed for those responsible? And what assurance can families have that their most private information is protected? There is no evidence in the report that staff disclosed Kyran’s information outside Tusla or compromised the Garda investigation. But accessing a vulnerable child’s records out of curiosity is itself a serious breach of trust. Tusla is entrusted with protecting children. That responsibility must include protecting their confidential information — especially during a murder investigation.

Daily N95 wear has been a life-changer for me. Not being sick for 6 years was like getting 14-21 days back per year from a single acute illness. Let’s say 84-126 extra healthy days. It’s incredible when you think about it. Masks on planes =no brainer. Daily public masking? Same.
University of Hong Kong researchers analyzed 40 airplane outbreaks of COVID-19 and flu. Infection risk was highest near infected passengers. Models found N95 masks nearly eliminated transmission, while doubling ventilation alone was insufficient. pubs.acs.org/esthag/article/…

Happy heavenly birthday to Vicky Phelan. 🕊️🎂 Today, we remember one of Ireland’s strongest and most courageous women. Vicky gave an incredible service to the women of Ireland and future generations—a hero who refused to bow down to the state in silence after being failed, choosing instead to fight so that others would be protected. Her bravery, truth, and legacy will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Vicky. ❤️✨ #VickyPhelan #CervicalCancer #Bravery #NeverForgotten

Doesn’t surprise me. I kept getting recurring ovarian cysts that they kept saying is anxiety. One Dr told me to shut up when I screamed as he prodded my belly. I ended up in a&e with sepsis. A nurse saved my life because she raised my case higher up.
Literally why I don’t trust doctors, this poor girl :[

Imagine reading three Nature papers about SARS-CoV-2 damaging the brain. “Holy shit. That sounds serious.” Then remembering you were sick last week. Then remembering you didn’t test. Then remembering COVID is going around. Then remembering SARS-CoV-2 causes COVID. Then remembering COVID is what we used to test for. And then realizing that not testing for COVID doesn’t actually prevent you from getting COVID. What an incredible time to be alive.
