Dolores Huerta was a hero of mine. When she co-founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962, people thought Dolores was crazy. “How are you going to organize farm workers,” she remembered being asked. "They are poor, powerless immigrants.” But that’s exactly what she did, helping thousands of migrant laborers working in brutal conditions make their voices heard, and demand something better. Dolores spent the rest of her life fighting for marginalized communities, even as she herself faced sexism and abuse — including, as she revealed earlier this year, from Cesar Chavez and others within her own movement. She also came up with a pretty good slogan, “Si, se puede” — Yes, we can — that I too often get credit for. But as usual, Dolores got there first. Michelle and I are thinking of Dolores’s family, the people whose lives she changed, and everyone who drew inspiration from her example. Photo credit: National Archives, Obama Presidential Library

🚨 Arizona needs real water solutions, not political distractions. Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan and Whip Rosanna Gabaldón respond to Sen. Tim Dunn’s proposed Colorado River commission, questioning its value amid ongoing negotiations. Arizona’s water future must come before politics. #AZSenateDems #ColoradoRiver #ArizonaWater

As seen in the @washingtonpost, today, @CatoInstitute and @scottlincicome released the annual ranking of state freedom. Arizona is #1. The study takes into account different indicators of economic and personal freedom -- ranging from, e.g., occupational licensure, to taxes, to medical freedom, to free speech, to educational choice. Lots of neat data and mappings of the data available here: cato.org/freedom-50-states/2… And here's the Washington Post article: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

Everybody, including people who are unhoused, wants and deserves to be safe. Instead of Trump and his administration using their power to attack homeless people, politicians should focus on achieving true safety, which starts with ensuring that everybody has resources, housing and their basic needs met.

Arizona's largest law firm, Snell & Wilmer, is suing Phoenix on behalf of its data center client, WBR, over the City’s ability to protect neighborhoods from the negative impacts of data centers. Today, we won an important partial victory in the case. There’s more work to do, but Phoenix will continue to work to protect our residents and ensure that when data centers are built, it’s done safely.

Took my friend, @gretchenwhitmer, to one of the best Sonoran-style taco shops in the Valley! 🌮

Over great tacos, we talked about rising costs and how Washington’s tariffs are impacting small businesses across the country.  Here in Arizona, I’ve cut taxes, strengthened our small businesses, and fought hard to give them the support they need so that neighborhood favorites like Taco Viva can thrive.

As mayor of Mesa, I watched Andy Biggs put his extreme political agenda ahead of good-paying jobs in his own district. I also saw Katie Hobbs consistently put Arizona first. That’s why I’m proud to be on her ticket this November.

Hmmm what dems are you speaking with? We have tried to address the root cause. -Guns in the wrong hands -Addressing mental illness -Having safe guards in the home. Let’s talk. Not blame.
Another school shooting. Instead of addressing the root cause of gun violence, Dems only push will be to “take the guns” which just isn’t feasible or constitutional. Instead, we should be addressing what drives children to harm others. Cultural rot is real & has devastating consequences. Pray for these families and for this country.

🚨 PRESS RELEASE: Arizona families need relief. No political spin can pay the grocery bill. As Trump visits Bullhead City, AZ Senate Democrats demand action for families struggling to afford basic needs, while Republican legislators keep backing his agenda. More than 450,000 Arizonans, including nearly 196,000 children, lost food assistance as Arizona implemented his “Big Beautiful Bill.” That’s nothing to celebrate. This is sickening and inhumane! Those responsible for allowing these conditions are showing a disturbing disregard for human life and dignity. No one should be subjected to relentless alarms and sleep deprivation. Cruelty is not enforcement. It’s an abuse of power, and those responsible must be held accountable!
