Every evening our family kneels together and it still amazes me how quiet the room gets once we start praying. I love watching the kids close their eyes and fold their little hands it reminds me why we keep this simple habit even on busy days. There’s something really peaceful about praying as a family; it feels like the day finally slows down for a few minutes. Sometimes I can almost feel Jesus smiling on us when we’re all gathered like that, just talking to Him together. These moments of praying side by side have become the best part of my day, and I know the blessing that comes with them is real. I’m grateful that Jesus keeps meeting our family right there in our living room whenever we take the time to pray together.

The New York Archdiocese just agreed to an $800 million settlement with around 1,300 abuse survivors. It’s the second-largest one in the country after L.A. Everyone’s signed off, and they’re supposed to finalize it in early November. Survivors can either take a flat minimum amount or go through a review for more, and the archdiocese has to release the names of the accused priests plus related documents without having to file for bankruptcy.

Gloria Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Pope Leo these past few days and really hope he’s feeling a bit stronger every morning. It must be hard for him to rest when so many people are counting on him, but I keep praying that his body heals properly after the surgery and that he doesn’t push himself too soon. May he have the patience to take the time he needs, and may the people around him give him the space and care he deserves. I just want him to feel better, breathe easier, and get back to leading with that calm, kind spirit we all saw in him. Please, Lord, watch over him and restore his health completely.

Jesus is the King of Kings! The one who rules over all creation with perfect love and power. He is not like earthly kings who rise and fall; His kingdom lasts forever and cannot be shaken. He showed His kingship most clearly when He laid down His life on the cross and rose again, defeating sin and death. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, the true King of Kings.

Gospel of the Day Luke 6:12-16 Jesus went up the mountain and prayed all night. In the morning He called His disciples and chose twelve of them to be Apostles. Among them were Peter, Andrew, James, John, and the others, including Judas who later betrayed Him. Reflection Jesus prayed the whole night before He chose the twelve Apostles. That shows me He didn’t just pick whoever looked good. He talked to the Father first. He even chose Judas, the one who would betray Him. That tells me God can use ordinary and imperfect people. It reminds me to pray before I make big decisions and to trust that God can still work through me even when I am weak.

I have always held that marriage is a unique and lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, the way it was established from the beginning. It is the natural joining of the two complementary sexes into one household and one flesh, ordered toward mutual support, companionship, and the raising of children when that is possible. For me this is not a recent cultural preference but the plain pattern given in creation and affirmed throughout Scripture. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” — Genesis 2:24 (ESV)

Pope Benedict XVI taught that praying the Rosary is a powerful way to encounter Christ, as it allows the faithful to contemplate the mysteries of Jesus’ life while walking spiritually with the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A basilica cathedral is basically a big important church that the Pope has given a special title to. It usually has a long hall with columns and a raised altar at the end, so everyone can see what’s happening. People go there for big Masses, baptisms, and special feast days because it feels more official than a normal parish church. The word basilica just means it has certain rights and honors that other churches don’t get. Some basilicas are also cathedrals, which means the bishop has his seat there. When you walk in, it often looks grand with high ceilings, statues, and a lot of history built into the walls.

Saint John Vianney really loved Mother Mary right from when he was small. His mom used to pray the Rosary with him, and that stuck with him forever. He said she was his oldest friend, the one he loved even before he properly knew her. He trusted her a lot, especially with people who were struggling, because he felt she never stops looking after her children till the end of time. He even put his whole parish under her care and dedicated the church to her Immaculate Conception way before the Church made it official. He used to say that if we give our prayers to Mary, she makes them better, like how something smells nicer after you touch spices. To him she was just a real mother who always goes first to the ones who need her most. That’s why he kept telling people to call on her right away when they felt tempted, knowing she’d come quick and the devil would go. In the end, all those long hours he spent hearing confessions seemed to come from this simple, lifelong closeness he had with Mary.

I’ve been thinking about how Jesus died because of our sins, and the more I sit with it the clearer it gets that none of us can fix the gap between us and God on our own. We all mess up sometimes in small ways, sometimes in big ones and those choices create a real distance from a perfect God who can’t just overlook wrongdoing. The cost of that distance is death, not just physical but the kind that separates us from Him forever. Jesus stepped into that mess for us. He lived a life without any sin, then willingly went to the cross and took the punishment that belonged to every one of us. It wasn’t an accident or a tragedy that caught Him by surprise; it was the plan so that our guilt could be paid for once and for all. When He died, He carried the weight of everything we’ve done wrong, and when He rose again it showed that death didn’t have the final word. Because of that, forgiveness is available and the way back to God is open for anyone who trusts what He did instead of trying to earn it themselves. It’s still hard to fully grasp how much love that took, but it changes how I see my own failures and the hope that comes after them.

I’ve always been struck by how many people in the Catholic Church have died for Jesus Christ over the centuries. Right from the beginning, under the Roman emperors, ordinary men and women refused to deny their faith even when they were arrested, tortured, and killed in the arenas. Then later on there were martyrs during the times of invasion and war, and so many missionaries who went to distant lands knowing they might never come back. Even in more recent times people have suffered and died simply for remaining faithful to Jesus and the Church. What amazes me is that these weren’t just famous saints; a lot of them were ordinary believers fathers, mothers, young people, priests, and nuns who chose to stay loyal to Christ no matter what it cost them. Their stories keep reminding me that love for Jesus can be stronger than fear, and that the Church has always had people willing to give everything for Him.

The roses Saint Thérèse holds aren’t just pretty flowers; they carry a special meaning tied to her own words and the way people still pray to her today. Before she died she promised that after she reached heaven she would spend her time doing good on earth and that she would send down a “shower of roses,” meaning little favors, answers to prayers, and unexpected graces. So whenever she is shown with roses, it reminds us of that promisethe flowers stand for the simple, loving help she said she would keep giving. People who ask for her intercession sometimes notice roses appearing in their lives at meaningful moments, and many take that as a quiet sign that she is still keeping her word.

When I look at Isaiah 40:31 it really speaks to me about those times I feel completely drained and don’t think I can keep going. It says that if I hope in the Lord He will give me new strength so I can rise up like an eagle, keep running without getting tired, and keep walking without quitting. For me that means when life gets heavy and I’m worn out, trusting God can lift me above the struggle and help me push through instead of burning out or giving up halfway. It’s a reminder that the strength doesn’t always come from me trying harder, but from waiting on Him and letting Him renew me.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

I try to do good things every day, even the small ones, because they make life better for me and the people around me. When I help someone or choose the right thing instead of the easy one, I feel happier and more at peace. I know I’m not perfect, but I want to keep trying to be kind, honest, and useful. Doing good isn’t just about big actions; it’s about how I treat others and how I live each day. I hope that by choosing the good, I can leave a better mark on the world and feel proud of the person I’m becoming.

Saint of the Day – October 26 Today we remember St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki, also called the Great Martyr and Myrrh-gusher. He lived in the late 3rd and early 4th century in what is now Greece. He came from a noble family, served as a Roman officer, and openly shared his Christian faith. Around the year 306 he was arrested and killed by being pierced with spears under Emperor Galerius. People especially love him in the Eastern Churches, where he is seen as a protector of the city of Thessaloniki and is often pictured as a soldier. He is called the Myrrh-gusher because fragrant oil has traditionally flowed from his relics. One thing attributed to him before his death is that he told his servant to give all his money and belongings to the poor, saying something like: “Give away my earthly riches, because we are looking for heavenly ones.” It shows how he was ready to let go of everything in this life for the sake of his faith.
