Just arrived back in Delhi to find the city embalmed in an all-enveloping burial shroud of pollution. Even at 2pm impossible to see 100m across the runway.
I've never seen anything like this in forty years of living here. What a fate for the City of Djinns- still, at its best the most fascinating of cities, but currently a tragic, choking death-trap.

I can't get enough of watching Francesca trolling low-life politicians with human rights degrees.

You might think that the phenomenon of people viewing themselves as "Christian crusaders" and behaving in ways completely opposite to Christian values is a recent one, but read this description of the behavior of actual French crusaders in the 14th century on their way to fight the Turks in the battle of Nicopolis (which the crusaders eventually lost) 👇
Sadly hypocrisy and virtue signaling weren't invented by modern politicians...

How is the world letting this go on: how is the world letting the israelis exterminate the Palestinian people; how; how do WE live after all of this

I find it somewhat ironical that Mike Tyson has a keener understanding of Mao than probably 90% of Western "China experts" out there because: a) he actually read his works and b) he did so when he was in a position of humiliation himself - in prison - so he could have deep empathy for the feelings of most Chinese at the time, and the reason for Mao's popularity.
And as a matter of fact Mao's words resonated with Tyson so much that he tattooed his face on his body, because, in his own words (from another interview): "he helped millions of people get their independence, their self-esteem, their manhood back." Which is exactly what most Chinese would say, to this day, is Mao's greatest achievement and what no "China expert" would ever dare write (or think)...
Big lessons there on cognitive empathy to understand others and history, and the disconnect of academia with lived reality.

140 years ago today, the Berlin Conference opened.
It was a conference where European nations established the 'legal' claim that all of Africa could be occupied by whomever could take it.
They set out murdering africans and taking their wealth to make Europe wealthier.

When Palestine’s 🇵🇸 UN Ambassador Riyad Mansour asked the chilling questions that will echo through history to our eternal shame:
“Is our blood cheap?
Are our civilians less worthy of protection?
Are our lives less sacred?”

THREAD: Today, Israel assassinated Muhammad Afif, Hizbullah’s media head, killing him along with other civilians in a Christian residential neighbourhood of Beirut. Beyond its clear violations of international humanitarian law, the timing of this assassination exposes Israel’s strategic failures and reflects a campaign fuelled by desperation and a desire for retribution. 1/

It has now been more than 4 days since I complained to Sky News, and to their reporter Alice Porter, about the misuse of my footage of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam on November 7.
They have not even had the courtesy to reply.
Shameful. @SkyNews @AlicePorterTV

Gaza is “a post-apocalyptic environment,” with “people just waiting to be killed, either by airstrike, by disease, or even by hunger,” says UNRWA chief Philippe @UNLazzarini.
On the consequences of the Knesset vote to stop UNRWA’s operations, he warns “that means that the backbone of the humanitarian response in Gaza will collapse.”
Watch my full conversation with UNRWA’s commissioner general about the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, Israel’s move to shut down the organization, allegations of links to Hamas, and more.

BREAKING:
Israel just committed a massacre in Baalbek, bombing the Civil Defense Center filled with medical personnel.
Over 15 paramedics have been killed, with many still trapped under the rubble.
Israel is hunting down paramedics across Lebanon.
This is an act of genocide.

Today, my independent colleague @AyoubKhanMP asked the PM for his definition of genocide.
His response — which shows a blatant disregard for Palestinian suffering and international law — is disgraceful.
We will keep demanding: stop the genocide in Gaza.
