I had the pleasure of visiting The People’s Theatre: Centro Cultural Immigrante in Washington Heights this weekend to see the art through which Joaquin Oliver keeps his fight going.
He was shot dead at our high school in Parkland, but through @ChangeTheRef and countless young activists, his memory and creative spirit live on to inspire the next generation of artists and advocates. Viva Guac 💛

9 years ago, Geena Springmann went to a music festival with her sister and friends. What started as a fun night turned into a nightmare when 1,000 rounds were fired into the crowd.
Now she has one plea: protect our communities from assault weapons.

I was walking in DC near Chinatown and looked left and saw your sons picture on a wall in a empty lot. Ty for keeping his spirit going and for making people think about a safer world. @ChangeTheRef @manueloliver00 never forget

Today is Firearm Suicide Prevention Day.
In 2024, there were 48,824 suicides. 57% of those incidents involved firearms.
Having a gun in your home triples your risk for suicide.

These aren’t campaigns. They’re interruptions.
Every action we take is a response to a life cut short by gun violence.
Until the shootings stop, neither will we.

Three days. That’s what Florida’s waiting period requires before someone can purchase a firearm.
Now, Florida’s Attorney General is asking the courts to strike down that safeguard. For survivors like Lucy Rowles, those three days can save lives.

Joaquin should be getting ready for the World Cup.
Instead, he’s missing it because in America, gun violence had other plans.

That’s why Guac’s Going On exists.
