If your response to pointing out eliminating bail is that otherwise we lock up everyone forever, then call me a moron, 1) You lack the mental faculties required to process nuance necessary to understand policy lies between two impossible extremes. 2) You’re rude 3) Rude people without the ability to reason get blocked. Life is too short to entertain your BS.

I find it sincerely difficult to believe there are still people out there who don’t realize that MTG is one of the most obvious grifters in politics. She’s also going to cry victim when one ofthese schemes crosses the line and she gets caught.
After MTG left Congress in January, she transferred her leftover campaign funds into a PAC. She has since been using that PAC as a personal piggy bank including flights, hotels, fine dining, and limo rides. She reimburses herself for "political expenses." Thousands every month. She also pays her daughter nearly 6K a month for "consulting." Consulting what? The purpose of a PAC is to raise funds and distribute it to ACTIVE politicians or causes. Not use it as a slush fund to travel the country for paid speaking events. The sooner you realize these losers are all just a bunch of self-serving grifters who only care about their own pockets, the better. Receipts. ⬇️

Law professor Josh Blackman called the NYT out on politically labeling conservatives more often than liberals, and editor Patrick Healy acknowledged he was right: “It can come off like The Times treats liberals as normal and conservatives as unique and worthy of labeling.”

I’m joining the team at @X to lead Product. I am a huge believer in @SpaceX's mission to extend human consciousness to the stars, so it’s time to make shitposting multiplanetary. X is the best way to find out what’s happening in the world right now and talk about it. The team has been working tirelessly to make X a better place and product for the people who love it, and many have noticed the recent momentum. My goal is to help accelerate that momentum for our community, new users, and businesses globally by continuing to make this product beautiful and useful. We are twenty years in, but it truly feels like X’s next chapter will be our greatest. I look forward to your ideas and feedback; I’m sure the replies will be measured and magnanimous.

FACT: The annual funding Israel receives from the US amounts to less than one-tenth of 1% of the federal budget. Less than 1/10th of 1%. FACT: That annual funding would cover only a few hours of federal health care spending. A few hours. Yet politicians who specialize in scapegoating would have you believe that Israel is responsible for America’s affordability crisis. Like every form of scapegoating before it, it is a dangerous lie.

I know this isn’t meant to be funny, but I’m literally cackling. “My decades long thesis on just war demonstrates israel has been fighting one, therefore I am revising my decades long thesis because it cannot possibly be that israel is doing something right”
Michael Walzer published “Just and Unjust Wars,” an attempt to delineate the rights and wrongs of warfare in both its causes and its conduct, in 1977. In the nearly 50 years since, no other book on the subject has matched its influence. The precepts are not complicated: it is just to defend your country from an invasion and it is unjust to invade a country that has not attacked you—although Walzer does allow for exceptions, mostly for humanitarian causes. It is just to assume certain risks to avoid civilian casualties and it is unjust to bomb towns indiscriminately to compel an enemy to surrender. The justice of going to war—what philosophers call jus ad bellum—is separate from jus in bello, the justice of how a war is fought. The war in Gaza has made Walzer rethink one of the book’s fundamental principles. “The wall between jus ad bellum and jus in bello, which had sustained his theory for almost half a century, was no longer sturdy,” Jordi Graupera writes. As Walzer said to him, “There is a sense in which the carnage of Gaza, the ongoing carnage, simply made the war unjust.” Read about why a philosopher of war is now reconsidering his seminal work: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/T7…

I haven't looked into Governor @RonDeSantis proposed amendment to cap local property taxes, but if the opposition's closing message is "You must defeat this because it will make your house too valuable", you might want to vote for it.
Amendment 3: The War on Starter Homes Nobody Saw Coming I’ve spent a lot of time studying Florida’s housing market, and I see a perfect storm forming. An aging population. A coming wave of older homes entering the market. Builders offering incentives existing homeowners can’t match. Rising insurance and ownership costs. And first-time buyers increasingly priced out. Now add Amendment 3. It could push home prices higher as tax savings get capitalized into property values, without adding a single home to the market. But here’s the unintended consequence nobody is talking about. Florida says it wants more starter homes. Amendment 3 could give local governments a financial incentive to approve fewer of them. The $250,000 non-school homestead exemption will be indexed to inflation, eventually exceeding $300,000. That means many starter homes could generate little or no municipal property tax revenue while still requiring police, fire, roads, and other services. We’re asking communities to build more affordable housing while potentially making those homes less financially attractive to approve. Making homes cheaper to own doesn’t necessarily make them cheaper to buy. And making starter homes a fiscal liability won’t help us build more of them. Read the full thread. This is about much more than property taxes.

McConnell in WSJ on Trump’s relationship with Putin & the upcoming “lame-duck” session of Congress: “Mr. Trump has high hopes for a lame-duck legislative agenda, including the one-time defense spending I’ve urged the administration instead to build into full-year appropriations. Passing this agenda will require working with Republicans who know the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. Ending the obeisance to Mr. Putin may be table stakes for the end-of-year legislation. The president should plan accordingly.” wsj.com/opinion/coddling-put…

My friend @DavidGattie has been preaching for decades "Energy Security is National Security". It's gratifying to see us finally begin to understand this and act on it.
FORTRESS: The Pentagon is preparing every major U.S. military base to survive 90 days without outside support — no civilian power grid, no global supply chains, no outside fuel or water. The initiative, revealed in documents reviewed by Fox News Digital, envisions portable nuclear reactors, massive battery storage, and microgrids that can disconnect installations from civilian electricity entirely. Strategic reserves of munitions, fuel, critical minerals, and medical supplies would be stockpiled based on wartime consumption rates. Civilian factories are being pre-identified to shift to defense production during a crisis. Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell put it bluntly: "Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures." Full story here foxnews.com/politics/inside-…

The factoid that '50% of marriages end in divorce' was kinda true decades ago. But the divorce rate peaked in 1980. Now, less than 40% of all marriages since 2000 end in divorce. For college graduates, it's under 30%. For college graduates who get married after age 25, and who don't have any kids before marriage, it's under 20%. Anybody promoting the outdated, deceptive 50% rate has some kind of anti-marriage or anti-natalist agenda. It scares young people away from getting married and having kids. That is their goal.
the american divorce rate is at its lowest in over 50 years congratulations to the 16% of 18-29 year olds who are married

People in the comments are calling this a “data center.” It’s a semiconductor plant — that is not getting direct subsidies from The CHIPS Act. Remember that? One of Biden’s signature achievements. Hundreds of billions for FORTY of these projects. Oh and you know who’s partnered with Musk and Terafab? Intel. It received $8 billion from the CHIPS Act.
NAVASOTA — Joie Miller moved to rural Grimes County to raise her daughter hunting, fishing and spending time with her grandparents on their 100-acre ranch. Then Elon Musk announced he was constructing the world’s largest building a little more than a mile from her in-laws’ property. The Terafab semiconductor factory, which Musk has projected will be 50 times larger than the Pentagon, will produce computer chips for artificial intelligence. As construction kicked off, trucks rumbled past their property day and night. Big chunks of ash rained down. Miller, 31, started investigating, joining the ranks of outraged rural Texans who have seen wide open spaces suddenly sold off to support the state’s rapacious growth. The more she dug, the more Miller, a born-and-raised Republican, came to blame the party that’s run the state her whole life.
