Everywhere you look, everywhere you go… there’s a tiger! Welcome to Tiger House, where the newest residents have officially gotten their names. We'd like to formally introduce you to Boneka (Bo-nae-ka) and Kari (Kuh-dee)! As Sumatran tigers, these girls have a special connection to Indonesia. Sumatra is a large island in Indonesia and the only place where Sumatran tigers are found in the wild. Their Indonesian names were chosen as an ode to their cultural heritage. Boneka, the Indonesian word for doll, was chosen in honor of Dolly Parton and Kari, the Indonesian word for curry, was chosen in honor of Tim Curry. These two little ladies are growing up fast, and before long, they’ll be ready to meet all of you. Until then, we’ll be bringing you along for all the tiny paws, big personalities and adorable milestones right here on social media. So, have mercy… there’s about to be a whole lot more tiger cub cuteness coming your way. @TigersAthletics #memphiszoo #GoTigersGo #babyanimals
