New paper out in the Royal Society Interface! How do people in a crowd choose which way to go? Do they follow the majority or those closest to them? In an experiment we find that in an emergency they tend to follow the majority #collectiveintelligence royalsocietypublishing.org/r…

New paper in PNAS! A behavioural experiment in 34 labs worldwide finds a "private solution trap": people are less likely to work together (e.g. reducing carbon) when they can solve problems independently (e.g. local climate adaptation) @eugenemalthouse doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2504632…
New paper! How do people choose between local cooperation (with a small group) and global cooperation (with a larger group)? nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

Fascinating how we just burned through the Turing Test & the Lovelace Test (a Turing Test for creativity) in a week, with no doubt that AI can both fool a human & make complicated stories/art as well as the average human. (And at the same time AI is clearly nowhere near sentient)
I'm taking part in the National Data Science and AI Poster competition. If anyone feels like voting then here's a link (I'm number 12 but vote for your favourite) warwick.ac.uk/research/data-…

Does population size affect cultural complexity? Sally Street, I & @JeremyKendal analysed a large folk tune dataset & showed that popular tunes are more diverse, but converge on moderate levels of complexity. @HSScomms #OpenAccess @CultEvolFunding. doi.org/10.1057/s41599-022-0…
